OK I am now in the process of saving up for my next car.The plan is to pay off my Altima sell my Vette and Spec V, then get a car.I was leaning toward the Infiniti G35 coupe, but I now know of a way to get a LHD Skyline r32 (or r33 depending on funds) GTR.How much trouble will it be for me to get it worked on?Can a US Nissan dealership do competent work on a Skyline?

I dont not have the service files needed to do major electrical and mechanical work on a skyline. I do not know if the dealer can get access to these things either. If you import a Skyline make sure they throw a Nissan Factory Service manual in the deal and have it shipped with the car. When you bring the car to the dealer bring the service manual with you so they can reference it.

No English translations of the R34 FSM have ever been made. However, you can get some Aussy translations for the R32 and I *think* the R33.

Most Nissan dealers will work on your car *IF* you know somebody there. If you are just a random joe and go to a Nissan dealer with a skyline, they will turn you away. However, if you know a tech or two, they can usually get you in. Especially if you let them borrow an English FSM.

I know Dr. John replaced Speeddoctors clutch on his R33 at the dealership. Maybe he can chime into whether or not he had any reference materials, for torque specs and such.

A couple of months ago, when I was considering a non Motorex (but dot/EPA legal) R32, that I had a great deal on, I asked my local Infiniti dealer if they would/could maintain/repair it.

The first conversation was like: "well maybe routine maintenance"When talking to service 30 minutes later, the answer was not just "Yes". but "Hell Yes! We will find a way to do just about anything".

I think after the first conversation they talked amongst each other and to the master tech and they sounded real eager to do this.

Fred...:)

basic maintenance on the Skyline can be performed by any competent mechanic. Does anybody have a link to get the english translated FSM for the 32? I have the Japanese one but having my wife try to translate it while I wrench is a pain in the bee-hind.
