2008 World Car Top Ten Finalists Announced

Top 10 in the world? Yep...A jury of 47 distinguished international automotive journalists selected the finalists by secret ballot, based on their experience with each candidate as part of their professional work.

The following Top Ten World Car finalists are listed below in alphabetical order:

Ford's european cars are on a totally different level than here in the US....I read an article that said if they were to bring the Mondeo here, which is in the same size catagory as the Fuzion, it's be over 40k, and people in the US wouldn't pay for a ford that expensive.

Fact is here in the US we look at ford as a cheap brand, while in the rest of the world it's looked at as a premium brand such as BMW or Merc is here.

Eh, every country I've been to in Europe has regarded Ford as American poop.what I don't get is the difference in the ford Focus in Europe vs North America.. how come they don't bring the new platform here?

And I rather enjoyed the rental TDI rabbit I drove in Brazil.

The key question would be: What criteria were used to establish this list-- reliability/dependability, appearance, ride, amenities, etc., etc. I'm always amazed with ratings systems, especially when you may get 2-3 different organizations to rate a car and the outcomes are so different. Bottom line is this, without standardized criteria agreed upon by all reviewers/evaluators, the above list becomes less meaningful. Inter-rater relaibility is a key factor, but we still don't have an idea what methodology was used. Based on this, the above list is highly suspect.

Not the new mustangs. That's for sure. Ugly wannabe classical, overly plastic, heavy pieces of junk.

My auto I30 used to eat the previous gen's V6 all day long, plus look hotter, AND be a 4 door.

Because its made in europe, and by the time it's retrofitted for us and b/c of the weak dollar it would cost over 40k. They don't feel americans would pay over 40k for a car the same size as their pos fuzion...

Really?The current version is the only one to take a step in the RIGHT direction.

The nose on the 04 (or any previous version of that design) was especially heinous...and the rest of the car wasn't any breed of good looking either...IMHO.

Quote »"as much as i love the G, its not a winner in comparison to those other finalists."[/quote]Umm, if we are talking subjectively, then IMO, the G certainly deserves to be on the list, as much or more than the Cadillac (great mechanicals, UGLY interior and exterior) and CERTAINLY more than the Mondeo, no matter how good the Mondeo is, I'd take the 37 over it in a heartbeat.
