Hey gang, got a new project I would like your help on. I would like to do a complete comprehensive reasearch project on the Skyline, form it's early days as Prince Motor Company to it's merger with Nissan to the current platform, to even getting a car here in the states and even the fall of the famed MotorEx.

If any of you know where there are some good articles, or have some good info of your own, and can back it up as being legit, get in touch with me. I would like to add a section to the gtrclub.org portal

And I would definately give credit to you, and/or wherever/whoever you got your info from.

I think this would be a good resource for people really looking into getting their facts straight on the Skyline.

Thanks in advance

-Neal

I have been collecting Skyline magazines, books, and articles for quite a few years now. I also have many videos. Most of it is in Japanese of course, but I have done a fair bit of homework on it. I would like to help on this, please e-mail me directly at [email protected] and I'll get you my number so that we can discuss it.

EXCELLENT. You are in. I am still in the planning stages of this for right now.

Part one is getting together the right people. Once we get that, then part 2 will be to gather our collective information and hash out what is going to go into the project.

Part 3 TBA.

I could be considered one of the North American authorities on the R30's (Only because I am one of the four people in NA who actually own one) and I would be glad to help in any way I can. I've researched Skyline history quite a bit and have some helpful contacts in Australia and Japan and would be glad to help out. Let me know.

Edit: Oh, and I know close to a dozen people in town who own Skylines (mostly R31 and R32's) who would also probably like to help

I can help with some parts.

I wouldn't say I am extremely knowlegable with skylines, but I know some things.....

One fact, the R31 Skylines were the only model built in Australia, (probably in Japan too), but didn't make any other models here.

Don't forget the elusive R31 GTS-R, of which only 800 were built.RB20DET-r engine (red top) short shift gearbox, tuned length exhaust manifold, bigger turbo, etc.

From wikipedia

"The R31 Skyline was also produced in Australia, with a 3.0 L motor (RB30E) available in sedan or wagon form, as well as a four-cylinder version called the Nissan Pintara. The wagon had the same front style as the coupe and sedan—the only difference being that it lacked the four round brake lights that had been a consistent element of Skyline design. These cars were manufactured in Australia due to the heavy import laws which made it expensive to bring cars into Australia."

I have owned my KGC10 for almost 8 yrs now. I could help quite a bit. I travel to Japan, annually, my wife and kids are all JDM and translating is not an issue. I have a bookshelf that is completely dedicated to nothing but the KGC10 era and history. Books mostly but a few magazines that have some usefull pics to show differences is emblems, grills and lights thru the years. Lots of subtle changes. I am almost finished with my complete restoration of my car that started with a complete teardown and blasted to bare metal. A real headache to accomplish here stateside but I needing to do something until I move back to Japan. There is a ton of misinformation out there so please becareful who you are trusting before throwing anything out there. Even some things that Japanese people tell me I find to be more fiction than fact.

Can anyone give me the stock curb weight of a R33 Skyline GTR, lbs prefered, kilos okay. Maybe any database or anything that would have it documented as well.

Still under construction. Been busy the last few weeks and I am still compiling information and trying to verify what I have is legit.

Like someone already said, "Wikipedia" it has ton's of info on the Skyline history and all Nissan for that matter, I think the company that started making them was Prince Automobile before Nissan bought them out.

Well, I was going to do this, but I just have had no time to really get going on it. I might try to get this going again sometime this summer. I need to check to make sure I still have all the links to the articles that I have saved.

Another question for you Skyline history buffs - which I am not - though I must stay that there is alot of good stuff on Wikepedia.

Anything from the old 280Z & ZX info and the basic Skyline 350 GT or G35 info.......and of course, the GTR history. Pretty thorough.

My question:

For my G35 to SKYLINE 350 GT conversion , minus the right-side steering wheel - which I may attempt to import to the U.S. as my next car........all that's lacking is a Nissan Front Grille from Japan.

Anyone got a source?

Emblems are everywhere, but this grille..........I may have go to Japan for it!!

Any suggestions?

Please......holla at ya boy. Tryin to win some car show trophies!!

I am also interested in knowing the difference between the length and width (wheel base and overall) and curb weight in the R32, R33 and R34. I may be getting a '93 R33 GTS4 in the next week or so. I know they are the biggest and heaviest, I just wanted to know how much bigger and heavier.

Thanks,

I got an idea, this project when completed should be produced in hardback book format with nice pictures etc. That would be awesome.

Any news on this project? Has it been scraped?

Sounded like this was gonna be a MAJOR undertaking to begin with. Just curious how far it got.

Thanks
