you want to remove a S20 motor that is worth 25-30K usd in japan for a RB? why not use a Gtx Hakosuka and change it out

The instant you pull that S20 out of a GT-R, the value of that car just drops. Why you would do that to a GT-R is beyond me, but if it were a regular Hakosuka, you could always swap in an RB and then put the GT-R markings on it.

Plus the cost of a GTr would be like 50K where you can get a GTX for about 13K-14 K for a decent one in Japan

Please do not advocate the continuing problem of stateside cars with fake or inappropriate markings. The only 2HT I know of for sale sold to a guy in Victorville, Ca. He also has a 4 dr.

Like all the 240SX's running around with Silvia badges on them, or let's not forget all the G35's that have Skyline badges.

Hell, it happens here in Japan too, it's an epidemic we can't stop. Just the other day, I found an R33 GTS25-t with a GT-R front, trunk lid, seats and guages. It's something that is just going to happen no matter what. I am not advacating him selling somethin fake, I am advacating him taking the route of doing what he wants without de-valuing an already expensive car.

the whole idea of tuners and motorheads is to take a car and make it ur own performance, looks and mods, so wether or not u agree with wat some one wants to do is ur own buisness i started this thread to get info on doing the swap ive already located several hakosukas 2dr gtx's im not going to deface a hakosuka gtr so relax i just want to know info on the swap before i shell out the money for the car INFO ON SWAP ONLY KEEP OPINIONS LIMITED thank you

Anything can be done if you have the time and the money.....

Instead of worrying if it will work or not, just do it.

If you REALLY want that body shape/model, and you want to use the setup you have waiting for it, then I say go for it.

You can make it fit...... Be a pioneer, say "to hell with it" and dive in head first.

I would, but I'm a bit crazy like that.....

Maybe no-one can offer any info because it hasn't been done before?

If you look around at some of my older posts, you will see my '71 with the RB26 swap. As far as I know, mine was the first and only one outside of Japan. Of course, in Japan it is fairly common to see RB swaps. Here are some key points. Space is an issue, and a major one at that. Cost is the second largest issue. Associated parts needed to compliment the swap would be next. Surprisingly, the Hakosuka has the smallest front brakes of any L6 equipped cars. You will most defintaely want to upgrade these. The R180 diff is going to give out quickly with that power and will need to be swapped. The RB25 transmission you will need barely fits into the tunnel. The oil pan will need to be full custom. The stock GC10 oil pan is front sump, but is very short and wide. No other cars share this configuration. The RB uses a front sump, but you will need to have it heavily modified to fit. The intercooler is your next issue. I had to do major surgery to fit an adequate sized unit. Then you will need a better radiator. These are just the issues off the top of my head. In all reality, you will need close to $30k to do this car. Any car worth having is goint to cost a minimum of $15k to begin with. Then your RB is roughly $6k with transmission. Upgraded brakes are about $2k front and rear. R200 LSD about $1k. RB clutch $600. Custom exhaust $500. Required gauges $600. Custom oil pan $500. Motor mounts can vary, so lets call it $300. Intercooler and radiator $500. Custom driveshaft $500. Swirl pot $300. Fuel pumps $300. Random hardware $600. And there is always other stuff that pops up. I fabricated everything myself in my garage. From motor mounts to plumbing and I easily exceeded $30k in the build. Simply starting with an expensive car like the Hakosuka puts a big dent in the wallet to begin with. An RB26 is just another big money item. A Kenmeri Skyline or an RB25 would each make a more affordable project. Not that I am one to disuade anyone from a project. I have been guilty of over building project cars myself. I am just trying to answer your question.

Nice pic of a clean car. Notice it still looks great without the GT-R badging. MacnielGUY have you thought about building a Leopard. Still an older car, Nissan, Unique and the RB26 drops in a lot easier. I am 99% positive that no one here stateside has one yet and they are inexpensive to buy in Japan. Rubber Soul in Japan use to carry the engine mounts for the Rb swap into the GC10's. Not sure if they still do. Good luck in whatever you decide to do.

I've heard that if anyone (lol most likely that means a gaijin) tries to take a real GT-R Hakosuka out of the country they'll run into unforseen difficulties with customs, shipping, etc, etc. I seriously doubt they'd let the car or the S20 L6 go.

GT-X? Totally different story. We've already seen all the "escapees" in the US. Would love to have one myself. I'd "settle" for a Kenmeri, but I think the Hakosuka is a much cooler looking car.
