Anybody know how much material can be removed from the head?

I want to bump my compression up.

There are 2 little tab like "lands" that you can just grab with your fingernails on the exhaust side of the head. Are these points to reference how much can be removed?

I removed .005 previously.

Sounds like a shady way to bump up the compression. Why don't you go with higher comp. pistons or a thinner head gasket?

shady, really?

c'mon you dont really think that now do you?

because skimming it would cost me 50 while sweet new forged pistons would cost me 500 +

^ good call, forgot about the whole price difference thing.

The only problem with skimming the head is you can't change your mind later on, and if you need to have the head shaved again, you won't have a lot to work with.

Not to mention when you start milling a decent amount off of an OHC head your cam timing will change in relation to the crank as well... so a set of adjustable cam gears, and equip to properly degree the cams would be ideal. My advice - find a trashed ca18 head - find out how far you have to cut it to get the required combustion chamber cc reduction. After you get that, verify you still have enough piston to valve clearance to run safely(this is an interferance engine to start with, so you dont have much before you have to flycut the pistons further). Just some quick thoughts from me... do-able

Adjust your compression with a thinner head gasket not irreversible, removal of metal in your head is.

I've got to go with the others on this one. Milling the head on an OHC engine can cause all kinds of problems. If you really want to bump it up, get a thinner HG.
