Well, one semester of college behind me. I can't say I didn't kind of enjoy it. I am switching 'majors' completely next semester, so we'll see if I like that even better than this one. This semester I was involved with Auto Mechanics majoring in Automotive Technology. I enjoyed it, but cars and such have always been a hobby of mine, and I dont think it is something I want to make a career out of. Next semester I am going to try my hand at computer engineering. I will be taking classes in programming, networking, etc etc. My father is a computer programmer so I have a great background for computer work; if I have questions, need help, etc, all I have to do is ask him and I'm quite confident he'll be able to answer my questions. Of course I will have a professor to ask as well, but you know. So wish me luck guys, I have no idea what I want to do in life, but i'm sure I'll figure something out somehow!

I graduate this Friday form high school. Waiting for my SAT results should be getting them back this week or next. Going to start college in the fall, still undecided on what to major on. Most likely business or agriculture, since have a good sales trait and background of the ag business.

Good Luck to both of you.

I'm also finishing my first semester of college. It was very hard I have to say, not easy being a nursing major. I dont think I'll be switching majors any time soon though. I enjoy college life a lot, not that I party much or anything, but just being away from home and meeting new people is fun It's a great experience.

meh, 1st semester was actually easier than highschool. Highschool was such a total b*tch, nothing but B's and C's. now all A's. I haven't declared a major yet, don't want to commit myself to anything I'm not sure I'd stick to, thus wasting my time. Anyways, next semester I'll probably be staying up late watching British reruns of "Whose Line Is It Anyway?" while legally consuming alcohol

Bah....school is over rated

College was joke kind of easy compared to highschool for me, but locally there's zero jobs for teaching anyway and every one is stuck with part time work. So back to school in January for my real passion....cars

Welcome to my life , except we watch Father Ted reruns. Though I should probably spend more time studying, my first semester doesn't end till the end of January. This is the last week we actually have lectures though, except I probably won't go since I'm a lazy *******.

I finished my first quarter last night in Automotive Technology and really don't have any plans of changing my major. I love working on automobile expecially when they work right afterwards. LOL

Stay in school as long as you can, the real world sucks. There's my advice.

Been out of college for 3 years, last 2.5 been trying to figure out a way to afford to go back.

PS: I'm also a computer dork, Information Systems degree.

1 more final, and I'll be done with my first semester of General Engineering here at Virginia Tech. Lots of BS work, nothing all that challenging, and lots of great football and drinking. Exams are never fun, but 1 more Thursday morning, some chilling around the 'Burg Thursday night, and then the 10 hour ride back to CT Friday.

That said, we all go from General Engineering to various more specific fields, I'm thinking Computer Engineering or Computer Science, and then out of college, hoping to get a job as a systems/network administrator, or something along those lines. Me, networking, UNIX, Linux, et cetra work well together. :-)

I started off as a Comp Sci major but then found I really REALLY hated debugging code. In fact, I eventually came to find programming pretty tedious.

I switched to History, with a focus on the Middle East and eventually ended up working for an insurance company. Go figure...

Man you are living my life . just kidding, but I wanted to go to VT since I was like a sopomore in HS. However, I got shafted this year by the financial restructuring, and the only "aid" I got from the school was a preapproved loan for $1000. And not to brag or anything but I am a pretty good student, good SAT, AP credit, suma cum late, etc. Because I am an out of state student, I couldn't afford the tution without help. But I got basically a full scholarship at the University of Kentucky, which is a great school, I just wanted to major in Aerospace, which isn't very common.

you said it brother man... college is GREAT.. classes get in the way, but the overall atmosphere and activities one does make it the best time in ones' life!... there is no longer a need to rush thru it.. stay as long as you can, do 2 majors if possible.. it'll pay off when you look for a job.

Been out of school since may and now that i'm working I hate it., most people at work are so lame! boring and old! when your in school u think u want to get out and work, and then when ur working u can't wait to go back to school.

I've been done with my second semester for about a week now and don't return till jan 5. 1st semester was the easier than any of my years in high school. ANyway college rocks(mainly because of ALL the girls), I've changed my major 3 times.lol Journalism, business and finally(i hope) engineering. I want to be a mechanical engineer because I want to work with cars...all my life. Really all I want to do something hands on that relates to the auto industry in some way, just don't know what. I guess I would like to design F1 suspension geometry or something related to motorsports. Does anyone have any suggestions as to what I could do besides what I already have in mind?
