Hello all-

As my beloved '04 succumbs to the effects of entropy, another component has bit (bitten? bited?) the dust..

The Sirius radio has been slowly degrading to the point where it spends more time "Acquiring" than playing music. I gave the antenna a quick visual inspection (more of a placebo action, I know) and all seems ok- no obvious corrosion or broken wires. I never get an 'antenna error' message (forget the actual message) except when I had pulled the wires.

Anyway, I found a couple of places selling an Infiniti-compatible Sirius radios, but none specify an '04 M45.

Just wondered if anybody else had tried one?

Sirius did offer me a free radio, but it did not integrate into the head-end, and I don't want any more loose electronics rolling around or stuck to my windshield

thanks folks

If I'm not mistaken (and I very well could be), The car uses an antenna and a trunk-mounted reciever unit in the trunk that leads to the head unit / radio. I'm wondering if your trunk receiver unit is going titz-up and if buying a newer trunk mounted receiver from Infiniti would fix your trouble? Of course you will need to make direct connections to the trunk harness as you probably won't find a newer unit with a matching connector harness.

yeah, figured it is the receiver (and you are right, it is in the trunk next to the left rear quarter panel).

I contacted the good folks at Infinitipartsusa and they tell me that unit is no longer in production and can not be ordered. Either way, I'm sure it would have cost a billion dollars, give or take. I'm not even sure I would spring for the $200 kits Sirius sells for Infinitis at this point, even if they did certify that they would work in the Y34. Not sure how much longer the old girl is going to hold up. (And my M45 is kinda worn out, too..;-))

later
