Sorry for opening a new thread, but I doubt the original one ( http://nicoclub.com/zerothread?id=91527 ) will get any replies if I post in it at this point.

Any way, I went to the local Nissan dealership and asked them about getting a Sirius radio tuner for my Murano deck (as the deck appears to be satellite radio ready). The parts guys told me the unit was $350. This sounds outrageous to me. My father sells Sirius satellite radio and his stand alone receivers cost less than 1/3 that price.

Was the parts guy looking at the price of the full deck and serious unit combined?

If anyone has any ideas please help me. I've had my Sirius account activated since mid November and haven't even used it yet.!!

im sorry to say that the "kit" is rather expensive. nissan has really not handled the sat radio thing well. what with some vehicles coming wired and some not(while still having the button!).

Agreed.

But I think one of our sponsors handles Sirius...I just can't remember which one. So if you're reading thing Sirius dealer...HELP!

IMO even the vehicles that are prewired (Max, 350, Pathfinder, etc.) the could have done a better job with it. If I owned a 350 I can't say I would want that scarab looking thing clinging to the roof of my car. I would like to see more satellite technology integrated into the windshields.

As for installing, we were never told how, as salespeople. We were told that if a customer inquired about it to simply say, it's available and we'll install it for you here, no charge. As a newbie mechanic I'd like to know, myself so if I have a friend or customer in my area, or on the web, I could do it or give a great explanation. I think it's great that Nissan and Sirius have this contract but Nissan needs to put more work into it.

Sorry, just a rant.
