I recently bought a 2004 I35 and had Circuit City install a Sirius Stiletto unit, along with the FM- direct connector. This install killed the reception of the factory AM/FM stations. The installers could find no problems with any of the connections they made.

I am seeking information that will remedy this situation, including a method of hooking the satellite radio into the factory wiring/antenna harness. Don't want to render the steering wheel controls useless in the process. Any experience or specific guidelines to accomplish this?

Sounds like they used a converter with the factory antenna. There is a green wire that comes off the factory antenna plug that needs to have 12v+. Without 12v on that wire, the factory antenna booster will not turn on.
