Will the Sirius tuner from a 2006 Infiniti G35 work in a 2010 Murano? It currently has XM, but I want to change to Sirius. I have seen that people have made this switch to 2009 Muranos and Rogues, but I am not sure that the radio in the 2010 is the same as the 2009. I assume that it is but wanted to know if anyone could confirm that.

I believe it was in 2008 (which would have been a 2009 Murano) Nissan / Infiniti started using an AV Unit that has an integrated Satellite receiver. Now, with that being said, I believe the NON-Navigation models MAY have a separate tuner. If your 2010 is a Non-Nav model, then it is a possibility. You could check near your spare tire to see if you have a receiver. It would be located just past the spare tire right behind the back seat area.

Now, with all this being said, why is Sirius so much better (in your opinion) than XM? Since they merged it they are basically the same thing!

Thanks. I don't have nav and it looks like there is a separate tuner for the sirius.

While Sirius and XM have merged and combined some of their channels, they are not totally merged. If you have one or the other, you get a significant discount on additional subscriptions, but if you have Sirius you do not get the discount for XM subscriptions and vice versa. I have Sirius in my other car and at home so it would cost me an extra $100 per year to have an XM subscription versus a Sirius subscription. There are also some channels that you get on one and can not get the other even if you have the "Best of Sirius" of "Best of XM" package.

Essentially, Sirius/XM is a pretty consumer unfriendly company and I don't want to give them any more of my money than I have to.

I know what you mean, when I purchased my new Armada they did not want to transfer my lifetime subscription to the new Armada. I called twice, really explained that it made no sense because then whoever purchased my old Armada would have a free subscription which made no sense since I was the paying customer. In the end they did carry my plan over to the new vehicle for $35

Timmbo that is very good information. I have been kicking around getting the lifetime subscription but hate the idea that it disappears after we sell/ get rid of the car. If you get that with one of their portable receivers you have that subscription forever. Seems stupid that they screw the people with built in radios.

Well, at least you know if you make a big enough stink (and talk to someone higher up) you at least have an opportunity. The person initially told me the only way they would transfer the subscription is if the vehicle was destroyed and they would need proof from the insurance company. Like I said, the whole thing does not make sense because if you had to keep the subscription with the old vehicle, the new vehicle's owner would be getting free XM while the person that actually paid for it has to buy a new subscription. STUPID!

Replacing XM module with Sirius module in 2011 SV

I'm a current Sirius subscriber and wanted to replace the XM module in my 2011 SV Murano, so I purchased a older (2006) Sirius Nissan module from an Altima. (Sirius programming is still different from XM, and they have not merged mgmt, so you have to pay 2 full subscriptions instead of one full subscription and one 2nd radio subscription ~$7/month less.)

I installed the module exactly (No Nav in the SV) and it fit perfectly, but the Murano would not recognize the new Sirius module... any idea why?

I thought it might have been a bad module, so I purchased another module and got the same results. Does anyone know if there is there some kind of programming that needs to be done in the Murano for it to recognize the new module?

Help! Any ideas???

Thanks!!!

I know there is no programming that needs to be done. The AV unit may somehow only be compatible for XM, but that would be strange. Are you sure there is not a different antenna? I know at one time there was specific antenna for XM and a specific for Sirius.
