I am still fairly new to the whole car stereo thing, but from what my mind wishes to recall, it isn't that it is impossible, but rather it would take two adapters for the antenna connection to use a modulator.Correct if I am wrong, but the head unit has a proprietary antenna connector that needs an adapter. The would allow you to connect the antenna to the modulator, but then there is the matter of getting back to the proprietary connector that Nissan uses on the head units.

That is just what I think. I could very well be wrong.

Versaspeed has the adapter you need. If i didn't upgrade the stereo, I would have gotten it.

Should be easy enough to install.

Word of warning on FM modulators, particularly in areas with larger population densities: There is a greater chance you will run across someone running running an FM modulator on the same frequency. This may make you lose signal or pick up their signal instead.

I've had it happen before on my wife's truck, so I ended up just hard-wiring the unit to the aux jack. Never had a problem since.

You can hook up the FM modulator to a standard radio, just as long as it has FM... and it does.

The FM Modulator, even when hard wired, uses only 3 different wires:

Antenna wire (you will need the adapter to do so), Power / ground wiring, and the connection to the actual unit. Just remember that the connection is NOT a direct connection and thus will not result in CD Quality sound.

But the point is yes, you can install an aftermarket FM modulator in a stock Versa S...

STILL: Get the aftermarket headunit setup, you will get better quality sound and the ability to control EVERYTHING through your stereo... go for Alpine if you do...
