Post

Hey all, I'm new here (and to car mods in general) and got my Altima about 2 weeks ago and began installing the aftermarket headunit.

Some backstory:My Altima is the base base 2.5 SedanThe car didnt' come with a stereo/headunit, just two pockets. It also only had two speakers in the front doors, which were prewired.I saved $4k buying the car this way as opposed to the 2.5S, and plan to spend a few hundred on aftermarket audio equipment (which I have read a lot about from this forum)

I've been looking around here for a while, and got some great information on the installation process already. The only problem I got is that I have a single din Sony Xplod CDX-GT430U, and although it looks like I have the OEM dash kit already, the HU doesn't fit exactly through it. I have to squeeze it through, and it scratches the edges.

I ended up just using the Metra kit that Crutchfield gave me, but I want to keep the factory look of the OEM kit. I've seen pictures where people have had the OEM one.

Should I be pushing the HU through it or am I stuck with the Metra one?(BTW, I have the manual AC, no digital tempurature display)

I could be going about assembling the HU wrong, so instructions would be good.

Trust me, I've been looking around this forum constantly for the past couple of weeks.

Thanks!

First off, welcome to NICO.

Any chance you can take a picture of what you're talking about? The head unit should fit. I'd like to see what you're talking about with it scraping.
