I have a 01 qx4 with the faux woodgrain and the bose system if it makes it any different.

Looking for a company on ebay or internet that can sell a quality kit that fits well with no gaps

thanks

Can you snap a picture of what your dash looks like exactly? Depending on that I can give you some options.

Oh sorry I meant with the new deck in there. In the older r50s, my body style my stereo came stock with a single din cd player with a factory pocket that was under the radio. Maybe you could go to the dealer and buy that pocket and use your stock brackets again. It would make it look stock. Well at least not have a gap.

I used a Metra bracket setup. I'll see if I can take pics later for you. I put an Alpine in place of a defective REPAIRED Bose head unit. How many times can the cd changer break?

Yeha my bose broke and getting it fixed ust isnt worth it when I can buy a great quality aftermarket single din for 1/2 the price that does so much more. I bought a generic 01-03 pathfinder kit from autozone and it didnt work

Was hoping to find one that worked without gaps

Same with me when I had my flip-out Pioneer. But the nest time I am going with a double din.

On another note, I didn't realize how much "wood" ther is on the interior of a QX4. Wow...

Dont know if you got this fixed yet but, this happened to my 04 pathfinder LE also. They sent me a single din for my pathfinder but that single din was made for pathfinder SE. I was looking for a LE version, the bose radio you have looks like the one I have. Try searching for a single din 01-04 pathfinder LE kit. I think that should do the trick.

Also if you want better sound quality you will need to ditch the bose amp, and get a new amp with new speakers and tweeters and rewire the whole thing. But thats just my opinion, trust me its worth it you wont get the most out of your aftermarket headunit if you dont do this.

Does anyone have a pic of the 2001+ with a kit and a single din HU?

I want to ditch my broken CD player and put in something better.

Oh, I think the amount of wood on the dash depends on the rig. I have a 2001 with the sport package (all four heated seats, rear LSD) and it doesn't have as much wood, like around the gauges and stereo:

http://www.innerauto.com call them directly for better deal on shipping and faster service, versus ordering online

but at least it will give you an idea of what a double din will look like. Eclipse NAV/DVD unit in a 2001. I had it installed at a local car stereo shop. Any shop should be able to fabricate the plastic surround to fit snugly.

Im sure you've figured this out by now but for anyone else thats wondering. Got mine from crutchfield, forgot what brand it was but it looks perfect in my 04 LE. Looks like it came stock. I'll post pics when I get a chance. Crutchfields great for install stuff, way more reliable then ebay and they always give you extra free stuff when you order.
