So after a few weeks of trying to find the right tray to fit under my flip-out DVD, I was finally able to get everything to fit together and installed it this morning. Not quite as clean as I had hoped (couldnt get the HU trim on without doing some major cutting), but much better than the Metra kit.

So that I can play DVDs without having the car in park. Head unit has a wire that is supposed to be connected to the parking brake light wire, all you have to do is ground it through a switch and it fools the unit into thinking the parking brake is on.

Actually... can't you just ground the parking brake wire without the switch? Then you don't even need to flick the switch to watch the DVD's.

Nope...tried that. My guess is that the HU sends a small current through the wire and if it is constantly grounded, it doesnt sense the loss of current. With the switch, it senses the current, then senses the loss when you flip it, then thinks the brake is on.

Dig?

A nice little trick to get perfect edges on your pocket is to glue a long strip of sandpaper down to a flat board. Then simply run the pocket edge back and forth length wise over it. Making sure that the edge of the pocket always stays flat to the sandpaper. A little trickier on the ends since the pocket is long and narrow. But just do it slowly on the ends and make sure to simply hold onto the pocket near the base. It may take a couple minutes per side, depending on how close it is to straight now and what grit of sandpaper you are using..... but it will come out perfectly straight! **Broadfield Installation Tip Of The Day**
