I bought the car as it wasn't running. I was told it would be a simple fix that the turbo blew and me being in love with the car I irrationally bought it with out anymore information. I've been working on it for a wile now putting it back together and I belived I at last got it so I turn her over and she sounds rough, shaking horribly then, she goes off as loud as a loading gun and backfires. I was told the engine was blown so I quit messing around with it so I could go off and cry. What should I do from this point on? Get a new motor or do you think she is okay and I can continue on with my mission to bring the little ka back to life :D.
If you guys and gals would like I could upload a video.

Not familiar with the KA engines but a few places to start.

Is fuel delivery okay? I.e. a backfire is usually from pooling fuel in the exhaust. Running to rich? Inspect spark plugs for fuel contamination.

Check cam timing. Perhaps the chain or belt (whichever it uses) jumped a tooth.

Even if you find the culprit, the engine might still be toast. I'd never swap an engine without diagnosing its failure to ensure it doesn't happen again.

I'd like to see a video for my own curiosity if you feel comfortable running it more.
