I'm "dangerous" for America.

Guess I'd better shutter my business, stop contributing to the economy, recall my son from military duty, lock up my well-behaved, respectful, intelligent 3 kids still at home, quit my job of holding wrongdoers accountable, and move my freedom-loving family to Canada.

We're just too dangerous to remain in the US.

p.s. Olbermann, your show sucks. And no one watches it. :)

This must be what's like for them when they watch O'Reilly. I guess. I quit watching the Keithster a couple years ago. I just couldn't get the image of a clown out of my head - the striped suit with the big lapels, all the arm waving. I could see a clown horn on the desk next to him, honk! honk!, and big ol' clown shoes under the desk. Jus' couldn't shake it.

Maybe *I'M* the arrogant / pompous one, but too often I get annoyed that the person making big bucks to spout their opinions on TV just doesn't seem to be all that smart - and that's the case with voices on both sides of the aisle. :(

LOL! Seriously ... Hannity ... ? There's gotta be some intelligence in there - he made himself rich and famous - but I just can't find it. But I can't abide Larry King either, so ... I try to ignore Hannity and see if his guest might be interesting. Or go online.

I'm sure Hannity's intelligent, I just can't stand his delivery. Beck got WAY too "emo" for me (and sold his soul in the process). Stewart was too smarmy and arrogant before, has gotten better, but still can't take him in any but the smallest doses. And so on and so on.

I've actually started really enjoying a couple of the local show hosts - they haven't "hit it big" yet, and I think that's why I like them.

I liked Beck when he started with CNN. His "Evangelical style" today is a turn off.

That, and I HATE when other people are all talking at once... when he has the other guys in the studio, it spools my ADD up badly, and I just get aggravated.

I get a big kick out of watching Beck and I agree with what you both said about him. Still, it's a wonder to watch him work. Such an unlikely guy, ya know? You can't take him seriously, at least I can't, but I love listening to what he has to say. I was a pretty good student, but I never got much of a history of the Depression era Presidents, for instance, just didn't care. Beck gave me some facts I didn't know. I listen for the facts, and he tosses a lot of them out there. I interpret those facts for myself.

Yep - Dude knows his history, that's for sure. Sure, his critics will pick out something and call it "revisionist" or whatever... but very few of them know 1/10th of the American history that he does.

I just hate it when he gets all dramatic and over-wrought and emo, and if I want a lesson on faith, I'll spend time with my pastor (who's an awesome guy).

He'd be a lot smarter if he'd gone to an Ivy League school. :lolling:

Actually, he should have gone to someplace like Smith or Vassar and gotten pushed around...maybe he would have toughened up. Of all the infantile talking heads out there, I'm talking about both sides mind you, he's by far the most insecure and childish of them all...including Glenn Beck and his "Get off my phone, you pinhead" breakdown.

Oh, absolutely. He's by far my least favorite, and I think it's his pompous, "I'm sooo much more enlightened than you people" schtick that makes me want to drive my elbow into his larynx.

Maher is second on my list.

Hmmm.

I think we've already established that I'm not a fan, and you've made it abundantly clear that you're even less enthralled with Mr. Beck.

However, your comment is incorrect (in several ways). You can dislike someone without making things up.

look im completely open to having my mind changed. you are free to show me evidence of his understanding of the constitution. for that matter, his follower's understanding as well. im not trying to be hostile. ive jsut not see much evidence of rational, knowledgable people taking his bit seriously. those who do tend to be the same who attend TV Church, or TV mosque. (we have similar)

That's not the point.

"ive jsut not see much evidence of rational, knowledgable people taking his bit seriously."

That doesn't mean he's not well-versed in history or the Constitution. I'd argue he's probably more knowledgeable on both topics than you and I combined.

Like him or not, the man knows a lot.

He knows a lot, sure, but he knows a lot about the Constitution and American history in the same way that a neo-nazi knows a lot about Jews. He's got a lot of obscure factoids and fringe historians who present other obscure factoids (all of which may or may not be true) and then ties together a narrative that, if one took the time to examine each point along that line, doesn't really stand up to scrutiny. Which is why I posted the link I did. The timeline isn't just a recollection of all the wacky claims he's made; most of the points contain a link to an examination of the claim.

The one good thing about 24/hour cable broadcasting is that it has caused the development of 24/hour media scrutiny. That he can argue that the First Amendment does not contain the phrase "Separation of Church and State" does not mean that he's actually worth listening to on the matter, because the Supreme Court - the part of government we look to on exactly what's in and out of the Constitution - has consistently seen it there.
