Sims 3 drops on the 20th of February, I really like Sims 2 so I'm there! Anyone else on NICO play this game?

I liked the sims 2 a lot. I most likely wont be getting 3 because of the computer I currently have. Maybe a few years down the road when I have an actual PC and not a cheap laptop.

The Sims 2 is great fun. Especially if you cheat (you can drag all the bars around so they never need to sleep or crap or anything).

I'm definitely hoping the Sims 3 is less micromanagement-intensive, though. I want my sims to be smart enough that they can go about their lives successfully without intervention.

I'll probably end up picking it up, I enjoyed the first two.

Hopefully the architectural editor is more robust. Building crazy houses is definitely the best part of the game.

That's what I have always wished for. I've only played the orginal Sims (with all the expansions) and I wanted to be able to establish habits in a Sim early on that they would follow along with.

Ideally I'd love to be able to have an autonomous Sim akin to cities I would build in Sim City that would eventually be so well crafted that I could leave the game running and not come back to a flaming ruinous crater. I realize that there would need to be some sort of scheduling manager so you could allocate time or set priorites for work, friends and recreation but it would be awesome to see implemented. Save your game, leave it running for a day or so and see how your time management skills stack up.

I picked up a copy and it's great but there is absolutely no custom content available. So if you're into the customizing with user content...then you should probably wait a couple of months before buying this game and give all the fans a chance to come up with some Sim3 custom content.

I definitely need to get this. It "fixes" most of the things I wanted fixed...like free-roaming of the town and full time sync across the board.

Wow my computer is ancient. We can't even play the game because our integrated video card is crappy. Must be a really good game. Oh well, off to newegg

Actually, your computer just sucks. The Sims 3 is HUGELY scalable hardware-wise. It works on hardware that was old 5 years ago. So if your video card still isn't good enough, it's either a strictly non-gaming machine (likely, with onboard video) or really ancient.

It's great not having to wait 10 minutes for the game to load if you want your Sim to leave the house, change clothes or anything off-lot. Now you can just up and leave at a moments notice. Gonna be even better when people get some real cars, realistic skintones and whatnot out there for it.

I think I'll go pick this up today. I've been trying to spend less on games but since my state tax return FINALLY arrived (JUNE!) I think I can justify snagging this one. Stupid expensive hobbies being expensive.

Agreed! I've been on a big game buying kick lately. Thing is, I've been buying great games at a steal on eBay but so many of them that it's really adding up.....there's no way I can play through all these games for awhile!

I'm having huge amounts of fun with this game. The new practical skill additions are great. I have a HUGE garden going (so big in fact that I really wish I could hire a gardener to help manage it...as it stands it takes several hours to tend to fully) that supplements my Mad Scientist income nicely.

Far more than in either of the previous games, I feel like my sim always has something to work for in this game. There's always something I can be improving, and yet it's not impossible to manage the available time to make it all work. But the character traits also make it so that there are PRODUCTIVE ways for your sim to enjoy himself, so you're not always juggling fun and productivity. Everything is more streamlined and more smoothly integrated. Instead of feeling like a bunch of discrete tasks all competing for valuable time, guiding your sim feels more cohesive now.

I do wish they'd ad a way to drag tasks around in the queue (to re-order them) and/or to insert tasks in the middle of the queue. Free-will "panic" tasks could also transition more smoothly (sim is gardening, sim has to pee, sim dashes to the bathroom and then forgets about gardening instead of going back to what he was doing).

Buy and build tools are improved, too (although compared to TS2 with multiple expansions, window and door and some other categories are disappointingly sparse) and I love that changing the color/style of items no longer costs money.

I like not having to buy clothing all the time. I also agree about the queue thing and I wish some actions that you chain together would transition a little smoother like picking up dishes and maybe you could talk on the phone while doing other things like cleaning or watching tv like in real life. I do agree that this game is very fun even in it's early stage with no expansion paks or much custom content. My favorite thing is still the freedom to to go anywhere at any time without waiting on the game though. I also agree that there is always something to do and something to look forward to accomplishing besides just living.

Hey guys, just stommbled onto this thread...

I don't own the game (because POS laptop) but I play every now and then at a buds house. I found this guide to be super helpful with the Sims 3

http://www.demonoid.com/files/...34696/

MoD there is a section on being a Mad Scientist and tips and tricks to becoming a better gardener and fisherman..Like were to catch the Death Fish and what is the best fertilizer for each plant and how and where to find different seeds in the Town.

There are other Torrents that contain the entire Sims store which contains all the cars, things to buy clothes etc. As well as a new town...

Just thought I would share....

I have actually maxed out all my (possessed) skills except logic. The death fish tip would be really useful, though.

I also discovered that sprinklers (listed as activities) do indeed water your lawn and can be upgraded to water automatically. That cut my gardening time in half.

Well if you find a Sim that has the Handiness trait you can ask them to upgrade the sprinklers and it will set them on auto water so you never have to worry about watering the plants.

The Death fish can only be found in the cemetery between 12am and 5am. Also do not use the Death fish as fertilizer because it will kill your plants.

Probably tough to see the text...

Also thanks for retrieving my post

EDIT:See if you can spot the spelling error in the diagram...

Yeah, I have handiness at 10.

That chart is REALLY useful.
