I've truly enjoyed the convenience of the new wireless push start on my new G35 as I never have to search for my keys and it's just a wonderful feature to have. However, over the last week or so, I've noticed a lag in the response to remote unlock and start/stop requests...

It is my habit to just hop in the car and fire that mother up with the key fob in my pocket. I'm assuming that after a couple months of regular driving, my key fob battery needs replaced. I've heard that if you use the key fob port by your left knee in the car, this will extend the life of your battery as this links directly to the car and avoids a remote ping from the fob to the car.

1) Is this true? Does using the port extend your fob battery?2) How many '07 owners actually use this port?3) under daily driving without using the port, how long should your fob battery last?

Hope everyone has a Great weekend! Stay cool out there!

I asked my dealer when I bought the car. They said it should last about 1 1/2- 2 years. Also I would not worry right now about the fobs. They suppose to replace our fobs in the next few months. I'd say before Xmas. They saying should be around Sept., Oct but I think it will take longer. To be honest I never used the fob holder I tried it when I bought it and that's it. I am not worrying about keeping it away from the phone either. I have an I mobile phone it is so small(just a hair bigger then the fob) I kept putting in the same pocket and they are fine. I had the phone for a month on my key chain with the fob. Never an issue.
