Simplifying the nM-PS-Kilowatt-HP-lb/ft confusion

When you read that the new Infiniti 5.0 will produce 290.8 Kilowatts of power and 500nM of torque, does it make any sense to you? Or are you like me who wonders what the heck you just read. Even if you find the formulas, is it worth getting the calculator out?
