I was wondering if it was possible to pull my engine harness out, and weed out the wires I dont need. I am going to run my car with the minimum wires. No A/C, No Heat, No emissions, no lights. I am going to wire the lights up myself to seperate switches. So can I take the harness apart and strip out the wires I dont need and still run the stock ECU, or will it not run right. Also my buddy was telling me about how he tried this with his FC RX-7, and the sensors were all running in one line and it made his impossible. Is the 240 like that? Is this possible?

Check out White Comet's wire tucking thread.

Yeah, WC's thread is awesome. He, well technically Mrgreeneyes, deleted a bunch of stuff from his SR harness and tucked it all. Basically re-loomed the harness, it looks pretty slick.

I guess i'll have to check that out. Im not gona tuck it though. I wana strip it so theres only a few, then im gona run it through the fire wall where the A/C came through. I dont want any wires in the wheel well because its gona be slammed hard. I know when they tuck it they run it on the side of th fender, but thats not for me. Plus if I run it in the engine bay throught the old A/C hole, its on the intake side so it will be a little cooler.

Yes you can. It's easy. Took me about 4 hours including pulling and reinstalling the harness on my CA. Removed a/c, idle up for a/c, stock boost control, butterfly contol and all check connectors. Rerouted knock sensor and integrated aftermarket gauges into primary harness. Good stuff. Just get familiar with the FSM.

So did you just pull the harness, lay it out. Then look at the FSM diagram and start cutting? Sounds good. I'm good with cars, but new to wiring. But I have the ambition to learn so it will happen.

Indeed. The best would be to actually depin the harness, but I couldn't get my make shift tool (aka paperclip) to work, so I just cut the wires short and wrapped each in a little bit of electrical tape.

I would reccomend getting about 2 rolls of 3M Super 33 or 3M Commercial 700 electrical tape. The cheap stuff sucks.
