Here's the senerio… I am every bit convinced I'll go turbo with my Z. The one question I have for the 350/370Z community is how to go about making it happen with the two roads I'm planning. First is save up and get everything done next year, twins (sound performance), engine build, pro EFI. The other option is boost on the stock block with a powerlab or other single turbo kit this summer and build later.

So basically this come down to setup preference but I want it to be more about now or later. I'm really looking for a 11.5-12.0 sec flat car with traction, no point in going faster because I'd need a roll cage from then on out to compete at the strip. Not a fan of the cages and to me that's pretty fast. I'm more than familiar with the properties inertia plays in the turbo world and the benefits of twins vs. a big single turbo. We don't need to get into that.

I'm leaning towards now with some bias reason. I like that I can see the powerlab kit and there's just one of everything vs. having multiple comments on the setup. The reason to wait is power potential and a quick spool up to avoid the power jolt that may only make traction issues worse. That and it's probably the smartest thing to do in the long run. Biggest reason to do it now…. Fun factor

So what do you guys say? Thanks for the input.

I vote you don't chance your engine, wait and build it. Not to mention the fact that if you wait, it'll just be that much better when it finally happens.

400 whp in an otherwise stock Z33 should get you right aroudn a 12 flat, and thats the danger zone for the block, if you can make do witha mid 12 second car for a while you can do the turbo now and spend the money of the clock and turn up the boost later

I say if you can build first. If you have unlimited cash for this project or can save well i would go with a build first. Check out Cosworth's VQ block and heads ($12,500 all together) but would make for a great second motor to build your forced set up onto....http://www.cosworth.com/search.php

just my 2 cents.

I wish I had that kind of money but I'm pretty comfortable to say the least. Maybe if I wasn't already buying a set of volk wheels, bassani exhaust, and an Amuse body kit, I'd probably be talking about doing the whole engine. This is why I'd have to wait to do anything big.
