I've been told that the auto trans from a SOHC will not work on a DOHC. Is that only true for the autos? Thanks!

they will work, but you need a plug converter for the transmission sending unit.

speaking of transmission compatability, will any year manual work with any year regardless of s13 or s14? If not which are the same for transmission mount, etc.

You may have to cut the ends off of the new transmission and wire the ends off of the old transmission onto the new transmissions. In other words, the plugs are different and so you will need to change them.

yes, however this is not always the case.July of 1990 was when the plugs changed.

I believe that July of 1990 would be a 1991 model year. I think that applies for most vehicles but sometimes the ones on the border months are different.
