Simple question about shift boot

how do i get my shift boot off from the base, i already have it out of the car but i cant figure out how to pull the boot off of the plastic base without damaging those little plastic sticks that hold it in place, im trying to replace my old ripped up boot... thanks for your time on such a stupid little question

nobodys changed a shift boot before? aww and i just broke one of the plastic pins

I used a really small flat head screwdriver. Still broke a couple of the teeth though.

I hope you are not replacing the boot with one of those fancy expensive THICK leather ones though.

Lets just say the cheap vynil shift boot from EBay proved a better fit all the way around. Not the universal one mind you, a properly cut and fitted one for like $15 shipped.

im actually gonna trace the old boot and custom make one, i just gave up and broke the little things off and ill just hot glue it back on when im done lol,
