anyone know any mods???

im still bummed out about not being able to swap motors (rb20 25-sr20) and the fact that it wont pass smog, i want something legal...

my bro says a simple hp mod would be to take the fan out?or have dual fans in front of the motor???

well im thinking ram air intake:i looked up aems dyno results and u get some improvements, i dont think its bad for $200.im also thinking about rewiring the battery so it is mounted in the back...

The fan is there for a reason. You need to make sure you can draw a sufficient amount of air through the radiator to keep it cool. Especially when the car is not moving. Some people use the A/C fan if they have it(it's on the front of the condensor) but that fan is rather small and doesn't cover the entire frontal area of the condensor. Having no fan will cause the motor to heat up when you are not moving. I had an electric Fan when I had an S13 many years ago. The relay failed and the fan didn't turn on. The motor almost overheated while sitting in traffic. I had to turn on my heater to keep it cool enough to get over to the side of the road where I could fix it.

As far as making a 240sx or any car fast, it's relative to the goals you have. You won't get the kind of power a RB or SR20DET swap would get with any ease.

Simple power mod suggesttions that are, as far as I know, CARB approved and for under $200 ea.: Open /cold air intake, cheap cat-back exhaust from the local muffler shop, and MSD.

I don't know if the visual inspection will pass, but cheap, quick power can always be had with NO2, or if you can hide the plumbing under the hood you don't have to worry about the visual. You can safely boost HP by 50% with stock internals. And since you will not arm the nitrous during the smog test, it will run like stock during it. Cheapest for the bottle is around $400-500 and a half day's work if you know what you are doing.

amen to the nitrous.it's the cheapest $perHP mod out there and if you hide it well it will pass inspection.

Technically, there's no such thing as stock boost on a car that's not turbo in stock form, and it would depend on what turbo you use.

Well, I'll go ahead and answer your question, after I say this. The information you need is at your fingertips. All you need to do is spend a little time doing a little bit of research. In fact, most of the companies who make turbo kits for 240's have hp numbers or even dyno charts of their kits right on their websites. It's not really that hard to find out. The reason nobody is answering your question is because you haven't done any research before posting here.

So...to answer your question. A turbocharged KA running mild boost on stock internals is usually good for somewhere between 225 and 250 hp.

240 light? i think its kindof heavy! but thats just my opinion. for "cheap" mods well its basically the normail intake and exhaust. if you go to 240sx.org theres a install on a real short ram intake you can make for like nothing that im sure will out perform aem's and for the exhaust part find the muffler you like and bring it to a shop and have them custom make like a 2 1/4" or 2 1/2" custom cat back.on my old s13 i think i paid little over a 100.00 for mine instaled with 2 1/4" and had them take out the resonator. sounded nice and hp was noticable. also maybe get a header to go with that. but to be honest the only real hp youl find is to swap it or turbo it.

one thing that i found to be pretty beneficial on one of my 240's is some good spark plugs and wires, and light weight pulleys.

I like the performance my pulley gave my 95' 240. I think it's the best dollar per horsepower modification. IMO.

i converted my stock pulley fan setup to dual electric fans for free. not only was the cost free, but i freed up some power doing it too (its somewhere in this forum, so just search for it and youll find it with pics). i also made a maf adapter and put a cone filter on it and with those two combined my car is much faster. i was gonna suggest to just turbo the ka. if youre worried about passing emissons the greddy kit is carb certified.

i noticed more torque than HP when i took out my clutch fan and its pulley.exhaust made a decent amount of power (apexi n1) was going to get a header but would be pointless when i turbo it. so i think the only thing im going to do before i go turbo is the custom short ram intake on the installs page on http://www.240sx.org and maybe some light weight pulleys. i think the best thing any of us can do to our cars is just really good tuneups. when i change my oil i use high milage oil and RESTORE it comes in a silver can and you can get it anywhere. i noticed more power from using that stuff the my exhaust and intake combined.
