hey guys,

i just bought my first car. its a 1990 300zx GS. the car came wired for sounds and included an amp, the only thing im missing is a subwoofer. the amp is super old but i dont have the money to upgrade so im going to stick with it. its a kenwood KAC-749s.

my question is this: do i need to buy a 2 ohm or 4 ohm subwoofer? im planning on only putting in 1 12". probably a Kenwood KFC-3012. please let me know what to do i have no clue!

thanks

Zain

Ok after looking up the specs on the KAC-749s, I see it is a 4-channel amp. So if you want to add a sub, I think you may want to look a powered sub or a sub and a amp. What radio do you have does it have sub pre-outs?

if you go on rockford fosgate they show you how to wire a sub to meet the ohms of the amp, this will make it perform the best and last a long time. http://www.rockfordfosgate.com/rftech/woofer_wizard.asp
it also has a bunch of other wizards from what size wire you should use for the size of your amp, to how big a sealed or ported box should be for the subs your run. do these things and youll have an awesome sounding system
