Simm...Nakamichi CD-400

I HAD one, didn't install it, and returned it . I wasn't going to get the whole system in yet (I still need an HU, comps and an amp as of now) - so I opted for the money for now -got new wheels/tires for now.

That's why I'm now considering the Nak 400 as well. I may still go with the 5423, if I can't audition the Nak.

As far as auditioning, I think if you are comparing the Alpine with the say $3-400 kenwood, panasonic... there's no competition. Alpine is the much better SQ deck. You'd have to hear the Eclipse ad Alpine head to head to appreciate the SQ. To me the Eclipse was more detailed and crisp. But again its subjective. My point is auditioning them at different times you'll come away w/ the impression that both are good, w/o hearing the differences (and likely you'll be using different speakers) - but if you can't do it, you can't do it.
