Interesting. Scoring never even crossed my mind. So far it seems like all you need to do is start a game and create a "Dump City", put all the waste management stuff there, and contract the city to take care of your dirty work from your other cities. I guess if every spot in your region is populated by some one other than yourself, they probably don't want to have a city filled with everyone's poo.
Well the SimCity developers did
a question and answer post on Reddit and it didn't go too well. The Reddit community really dislikes invasive DRM and so with SimCity being an EA title there were a lot of questions and comments about the games DRM. In fact the first post was written by a Redditor who gathered and documented all the comments about those upset about EA's plans for DRM in the new SimCity title.
So what is the DRM solution you can look forward to? It looks like it's an always-on DRM solution; the game cannot save unless you're online. It doesn't look like the game will have an off-line mode. The devs did say that if you're playing and your network takes a dive, you will not notice any difference in the game. Once your network is down, you will not be able to save any progress. So if your network is down for an extended period of time, you figured it would be back and running in a few minutes, you continue to make large changes, you're boned until the network gets up and running again.
The game will only be available on Origin, the game already has day one DLC
(when you preorder the Deluxe version), subways and terraforming will not be there on release. If it gets released a some sort of DLC pack I will cry.
My biggest quarrel with this game comes from EAs history and the always-on DLC. EA has a history of shutting down the servers for there games soon after a newer game comes out and they don't offer code allowing others to host servers for the game
(this question was asked and not responded to). If SimCity requires always-on DRM how large of a window will the servers be up and running after a new SimsCity is released? If it ends up being on sale 2 years from now, should I purchase it when EA might have plans to can the servers. ::sigh:: Fu*king EA. Well my enthusiasm for this game as dwindled dramatically after reading there Q&A on Reddit.
It seems like there not trying to sell this game to the hardcore SimCity crowd, it seems like they are trying to sell this game to those who want more than a farmville but less than a real game. I can't tell if the game was influenced by the DRM or the DRM was chosen based on how the game played.
