Hey, My problem I am having is the transmission that came with the SR20DET motor in the swap is giving problems. When I had the transmission put in I had a new clutch and flywheel put in which is made by Exedy. This system is a race/street system. I have driven the car now for about 4000 miles and have had no problems until now. The problem is once the car and transmission are warmed up you can't get it to go into first gear it grinds and somewhat kicks the shifter back out even when your at a dead stop. I have put Red lines performance fluid into the transmission and rear end thinking it would help it hasn't. Some say the master cylinder (which is stock) is to weak to pump fluid through the clutch and transmission others say the inners of the transmission are shot. Has anyone ever had this problem or know of anyone who has had this problem. Please help don't know what to do.

Hey Mattyo, Welcome to NICO!

If the trans pops out of gear from full engagement, and that the grinding only happens in first, the hydrolic system( master, slave cyl's) would have nothing to do with it. that type of failure is usually an indication of a bad syncronizer hub detent. This would be an internal trans problem. If the info I have read on here is correct the USDM trans for the 240 will work with your set up. If you have previous knowledge/experience overhauling manual transmissions you could rebuild yours but the cost to do it right would likely outway the cost of a good used trans.
