Yet another bull**** story about the Skyline being legalized by Motorex... INCORRECT ... an outside firm did all the work.

Hey in that article they compare the price to an S2k and a R32... Do the prices on motorex's website include legalization? I assumed they didn't. If they do i'm on it tomorrow!

No the prices do not include the $3-5K more the process cost. At least that's what Ken told me.

IF 180sx, Silvia S14/S15 are here, their price will be so high to the roof. For example brand new R34 from Motorex running about 90K .. 90K for the car that originally cost 55K .. It's a nice car and all but it's still not a 90K car. I would bet brand new S15 Silvia will run you about 55-60+K. I don't know about you guys, but for that much money I'll get somehting else.

but your paying for it to be legal, which means if your pulled over you just get a ticket instead of your car being impounded then eventually crushed.

If they legalize the s15. that means they will legalize the sr20det (well, at least the s15 sr20det.) and that means... my motor should be legal!!!! (newer motor, same brand... :)

...i hope...

anyways, who in there right mind would buy a S15 silvia for 60K when they could pick up a R32 GTR for like half the price from motorex.

true, but I still have to think twice about spending 30K for 10+ years old car.

yea, that does bring up an interesting point, if the silvia is legal, would it apply to our redtops, being that its the same engine code and a newer chassis...

motorex legalizes the car individually not the entire motor line, my buddy and a few other guys are finalizing the the journey to having a skyline importing business. they can sell them a good deal cheaper-and legal. so, if this company does import the s15, then only the sr20det that came in the car they imported would be legal and only in that car.

if the motor is DOT approved, the motor is DOT approved, it doesnt suddenly become not DOT approved if in another vehicle of the same make.

but in the case of the s13 sr20det, it has a different head, intake manifold, ecu... etc...that may be enough to make the s13 motor remain illegal. :(

it is EPA approval that is needed.

but it IS legal to swap RB motors into 240s, or else mckinney motorsports was posting false advertising in sport compact car magazine just a few months ago.

yes i realize that, but if s15 sr20det's are tested for on road use in the USA, then it is at that point, a road legal nissan motor, regardless of the chassi it sits in.

So at that point, it would only be modifications which would be illegal correct? If you had a stock SR or RB, and it could pass smog, you would be completely legal. My question is, because as far as I know, only GTR's have been made legal in the US, at least that's all Motorex sells. Does that make the entire RB series legal, or only the RB26DETT because technically they are different motors, just the same block.

Motorex doesn't just sell GT-R's.
