After finally completing the conversion i was disappointed to see that my hood fits like complete a**. While it does latch in, the right side(as viewed in the pic) sits higher than the left side, which just baaaarely sits properly. I then completely removed the latch mechanism which lead to the hood sitting properly, so im sure the hood is bent in any way. Now ive searched the subject and came up with nothing, so any guidance would be greatly appreciated.

And pic for reference.

i thought of that already but im trying to avoid any drilling right now because i dont have the tools required at the moment to recreate a new bracket.

Same case with my silvia conversion except mine wasnt off as much as yours. But it did sit to the driver side a little more, never enough that i couldnt close it. Idk how to help you on that 1. Did you try taking it off and putting it back on again?

havent tried that yet, ill give that a whirl tomorrow.Im gonna assume that the hood hinges are the exact same for the 240 and silvia as well and that shouldnt have any effect on the fitment

Should be the same. Mine latches, but isnt fully closed. I push down on it hard then it lines all up. But the Driver side edge of the hood scratches the edge of the driver side edge of the fender when i push it down fully.

I'll take it off of your hands, keep the fenders.

On a serious note, try messing around with your fender alignments as well. Also, if your car has been hit, I'd look at re-aligning the hood hinge bases.

Screw the latch. Get hood pins. Much safer.

Btw, that's exactly how my conversion is going to look minus no grill. I hope you're not putting on an ugly silvia grill.

Lift the base of the brackets and not where the hood bolts to the brackets. You want to raise the end up the rear side of the bracket. ( in between the car and bracket )

Note: I have no idea how safe this would be, and when measuring and spacing the rear. Remember the front will come down a dramatic amount with minimal adjustments.

Good Luck.

Ghasty

AeroCatch pins. They've got some that lock too. I've got them and they're NICE.

Here's a link.http://enjukuracing.com/-c-2_32.html

Btw, be sure to post pics of that grill when it's on. I'm very curious to see how it looks.

huh, its a stock hood, not carbon fiber, hood pins would be a waste, not to mention, look retarded with a stock hood

think your forgetting how s***ty your hood is fitting and that this would fix the problem.

it would be easier to simply adjust the latch like you said previously, than it would be to install hood pins. id much rather drill 3 holes that no one see's than 2 holes in the middle of my hood that everyone will see

I think you need like rubber spacers on the brackets where the hood mounts to to lift it up a bit. since i had a flat strutbar mounted in my enginebay i used it as the hood lift.

edit: yeah pretty much what ghastly said (just read his reply)

I vote for adjusting the rubber stoppers on the corners of the engine bay near the blinkers.

sounds like you don't know much so I recommend taking it to a body shop and letting them try adjusting it.

sorry guys havent had a chance to work on the car, its still below 0 here, and the day i asked this question we had some oddly warm weather so i had a chance to get outside. My garage is full at the moment so im stuck in the driveway and really dont feel like freezing my nuts off. I did take a look at the hood bushing things or whatever theyre called on the rad support but havent figured out how to remove them without destroying them. I need spring ASAP.

At this point im thinking of going with some simple hoods pins if i cant devise something to move the latch down. Ill keep you all posted, as long as the weather cooperates.

The latch is held on by like three bolts. It took me less than five minutes to take off.

And btw, if you do go the hoodpin route, look into AeroCatch hood pins. They are great. Enjukuracing has them.

ya ive removed it once already, its just a matter of mocking something up to move the latch lower, as i mentioned earlier my tools are limited at the moment and the weather sucks.

Oh, you're talking about moving the latch, not removing it. My mistake.

But really, hood pins should solve your problem.
