DOES ANYONE KNOW THE WEIGHT DIFFERENCE BETWEENT HE SILVIA FRONTEND AND THE 180SX FRONTEND? I'M THINKING OF GOING SIL40 TO COUNTER ACT THE WEIGHT INCREASE OF THE RB20. DO YOU THINK GOING THIS ROUTE WOULD SHAVE OFF THE 65 ADDITIONAL POUNDS?

ALSO I'LL PROBABLY GO WITH FIBERGLASS FENDERS, BUMPER, GRILL, AND A CARBON FIBER HOOD. BASICALLY THE GTP SETUP.

I think you're looking at probably close to 45 lbs or so from what I've read somewhere.

24LBS OFF THE FRONT, THEN MATCH THAT WITH FIBER AND CARBON AND YEAH I COULD SEE 40-45LBS OFF THE FRONT SWEET. THIS IS NOW A WORTHWHILE INVESTMENT.

I assume(bad thing to do i know) that you are also going to re-locate the battery to the rear of the car as well project? Wouldn't that also be transferring like 30-40lbs to the rear from the front?

you could just get headlights that arent flip ups, i assume that most of the weight would be lost in the removal of the headlight motors.

I would have to say youll lose more than enough wieght on the front end with all of the above. moving the bat. is 20lbs, carbon fbr hood is about a 40 lb savings, then replacing fenders, bumper with fiberglass and support gone is 50-60 lbs, added up thats 120lbs gone/moved from the front end. with further lightening such as the rear seats and trunk panels, spare, etc. you could again counteract the lower front weight and be approximately 180-200 lbs lighter, assuming you yourself went on a diet. anyways, these are all really conclusions Ive come to during the experiences with my car, though I have yet to wiegh it.

I have a silvia conversion, and I'll tell you this, all the weight is in the bumper support. I weighed all the stuff, headlights, bumpers, fenders, etc. almost the sam. bumper support though is about 18 lbs heavier. US bumper support is fully enclosed beam, while JDM bumper support is open beam with only three side, front, top and bottom, no backing.

THIS CAR IS GOING FOR AS LIGHT AS POSSIBLE. TRYING TO STAY 600LBS LIGHTER THAN THE C6, ITS PART OF MY PROJECT. I WEIGHT 145LBS AND I'M ACTUALLY STARTING TO DIET AND HIT THE GYM REGUALRLY. THE REAR INTERIOR OF MY CAR IS GONE, AC SYSTEM IS COMPLETLY GONE, BUMPER SUPPORT WILL BE GOING, THE ELECTRIC SEAT BELTS ARE GOING TO BE REPLACED WITH SOLID STREET HARNESSES, ETC.

Wow you'll have to keep us updated on that goal.

Just goes to show you how good a job they do on the Corvettes for weight doesn't it :D
