Hey guys...

I've been into silvias for years now, but never had the money to import yet alone do a conversion. Today my luck has changed though. I found a silvia conversion on Ebay that is in mint condition...or at least looks like it. I'm not too sure what I need to ask the guy though since I have never owned a 240/silvia...so can you guys help me out with some questions I should throw at him? This car sounds too good to be true...especially for $15K.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayI ... 2402591429

Thanks in advance!

it was featured in a magazine not too long ago http://www.importtuner.com/features/0207it_silvia/ Seems like he did a good job, I don't really like the supra tail light conversion but it looks ok. I don't think you have to worry about him half assing anyhting because it was done as a show car, but as with any car, I would go and check this one out and take it for a test driver(bring a friend that knows about cars too) before you ever bid on it....but this car does seem nicley done(even though i hate the color)...but i love the fact he never put a spoiler on it, looks very clean.

Ack! Its got supra taillights...Party fowl.

Ask him if the swap was done professionaly, ask for receipts if it is...ask for the VIN # so you can check the carfax...and ask about the painjob also. Make sure its not a Maaco.

I dont know anything about that car specifically, but I do know that it's been up on ebay like ten times or something. Seriously its been for sale forever. That's either cause 1. theres something wrong with the car that has scared months of potential buyers away or 2. hes just asking too much. Gimmie the VIN and I'll run it for you.

I'd rather that rear was a silvia conversion, but the Supra conversion was done correctly at least.

That makes me leary if this is the car that has been up on Ebay before. I will email the guy and get the VIN.

This is prob one of those 'too good to be true' cars.

I dont even know if it's worth 15. It's only a 95 with the strawberry face (and supra tails)... Its got the blacktop, but still, you never get out of it what you put in...

For 15,000 you could probably pick up a real MCS14 and do it up yourself.

Just somethin to think about...

yea dude, if you could get it for under 10 i say go for it, (as long as there is nothing else wrong with it) the car looks real good! if there is nothing else wrong with it, it would definately be worth it.

I've always been fond of Supra tails, but they don't belong on a 240. It looks nice, at least it's got some "go" too. I don't like the brightness of gold much either, but sounds like a deal. I'd go for it if I had the cash and was looking seriously at the moment...

EVERYONE PLEASE READ!

This car was already up on eBAY, I remeber seeing this exact same one for the same price about 2 months ago, I would not do it, even though I like it, im pretty sure that its a jip or something like that. Unless, this is the person who bought it and is selling it again. Makes you think.

man how cant u like the supra tail lights.. i think they look sweet (tho ive always had a thing for them...) i think it looks better then the S15 tail lights.. but thats just me... and if u check the engine bay everything is chromed out and the pipeing is all pro, i would say 12k for that car.. but that would be the max.. go check it out, drive it and get records of any labor.. it should be fine but u never know (he might of just built it as a project to sell alot of ppl do that, maby he is moving on to somthing better u never know)...

Just because it's been for sale before doesnt mean anything, because when it was up for sale it never hit the reserve! the guy wanted like 18k or something....

i remember reading about it in the import tuner. What i saw and read in the magazine was really nice. I would say go drive it. Take it to a mechanic you trust or someone that knows about cars, and if you like it buy it. The guy has serious money in the car. swap+paint+wheels+frontend+tailights.... i would say he has around 20 k invested without even knowing exactly what done under the hood. If you offer to low me might be insulted. I think the car is worth 15 no problem, but i dont really like the tails or the paint.

For $15k, I would personally buy a 95 for $4500, get the front end conversion for about $2500, and get an SR installed for about $3500-$4000.

That leaves you a few thousand dollars for extra goodies.

I like it other than the color, the supra taillights look decent enough but that paint job has got to go, I'd say get it if you can afford it with what he has done it looks like a decent deal.

bruinbear714- that is what i am doing to. But i dont think you could come close to building that car for 15 k. But who knows if it was sprayed on, or what was done to it. Its a nice car, but i would rather buy a stock car for less, get to do all the work or most of it myself, and get to feel the improvements i have made. instead of just buying it all done. :)

That's one of the sexiest silvias I've seen...who cares if it has supra tail lights, the conversion was done clean, and the car looks awesome. I'd go for it--all of that custom audio/chroming/interior/exterior work more than justifies the price. Plus, I'm sure the SR20DET he has in it is putting out at least 250 HP....for 15k, I can't think of another car I'd want!

Im really happy with the car...I'm doing a few small touchups before I hit the show circuit next month. Also I seem to be expierencing a small boost leak somewhere.

dude..i doubt its a "JIP". some people just wanna get out the game. they want to invest their money in other things. i am wanting to sell my car...so does that mean my car is a jip? no it doesn't. this guy probably has other things to do now...so i'd go for it. i'm selling my car for 12,500. he's trying to sell his car for 15,000. sounds about right because he's got pretty much all the same stuff i have except for the s15 conversion... :)

go for it if u got the money...
