I'm looking to purchase a 89-93 240SX coupe because I really like the Silvia S13 and thats the closest I'll get to one. After poking around the Net and car magazines, I immediately began searching for a 240SX with a blown engine and checked out prices for the shipping (to Hawaii) and installation of a SR20DET.

Now I'm starting to have second thoughts. Finding a 89-93 240SX coupe in any condition is difficult in any condition. After seeing a few articles and the posts on the KA and CA sections of this forum I'm wondering if the costs and aggrivation of finding a car with a blown engine is worth it and I'm contemplating just looking for a stock 240SX and putting in a turbo later.

Straight up, what I'm looking for is some raw data about three engine types: KA24, CA18 and SR20, turboed and non-turboed for each. I want to know weight, max boost, peak HP and torque at a sampling of boost levels (specify elevation and temperature measured at and how) along with a general analysis of the graphs, and any other trivia, tidbits and misc. data you think may be relevant. How does the CA18DET being made of iron and the SR20DET being made of aluminum affect maximum boost?

The reason I'm asking this is because all the data I've found can't be compared because there are too many extra variables. I've seen claims on KA24 turboed at 7 pounds of boost hitting 300 peak hp, but between the exhaust, electronics, intercooler and other add ons I can't begin to even guess how a KA24DE with a turbo added compares to a SR20DET. Might help if somone could post the data from Silvia Q's which were non-turboed. I would like to avoid, "this one time, my cousin Bernie..." stories if possible. I need consistent comparable data.

I realize this is kinda asking a lot, but import car mags which hold comparative tests give lip service to the 240SX and I havn't seen any threads seriously analyzing the engines. I realize that not all of the variable can be eliminated, but I'd like to give it a shot.
