Silly question, what kind of coolant and windshield fluid you guys use? I mean, besides go to dealer and let them rip me off.

I found my coolant level is at min right now. And kinda of want to top it off by my own, but as manual is ambiguious about what is ""EQUIVALENT" and I haven't done this in my whole lift. Also I have no idea what kind of windshield fluid I could mix with the geniune Nissan one. Shame...

Anyway, thanks for sharing.

Last time they filled me with coolant, was in CA Glandale NIssan. great service no rip off at all paid 150 they changed everything and inspected the car. As for windshield wiper anything i can find. Mostly some yellow mixture which smells like soap.

Well, here in Canada we use windshield wash that has a soap for flies and insects that splatter to help clean the windshield thoroughly, and in the winter we use -40 degree's celcius wash so it wont freeze during the fridgid temperatures. As of to what make and brand, it shouldnt really matter.

As towards coolant, why go to the dealer and pay a fortune when you can go down to the local Wal-Mart or auto parts store and get GREEN antifreeze. NOT DEXCOOL (Which is RED)

My windshield fluid is that soapy one. Don't like it.... Blur my view right in the front.

So is OK for me to mix different made (green for coolant and good for -40 windshield fluid) together? Do I need to flush coolant after mixing them up for a certain period of time?

I used to get it smuged on my windshield too. Its not from the soap, try to clean your wipers, use lemon as acid so that it can get some of the grease off the wipers, if not you need a replacement. I changed mine a few months ago and no more sumging on my glass

Why would you want to mix them? They are 2 totally different liquids for 2 totally different uses. Unless I understood you wrong. You would top up your Coolant with GREEN coolant (The yellow stuff is apparently a generic mix for all types of vehicles, but I would go with GREEN)

And Windshield Washer Fluid you would have to look on the jug for -40 or anything that says winter.

Consult your user manual for Coolant flush intervals, but I would get a garage to use Coolant test strips for alkalinity, if its bad then do a coolant flush.

I'm using this RainX 2 in 1 all season washer fluid. Good for bugs in the summer, melts snow and ice in the winter. It's a peachy looking color, good down to 0 F degree weather. Works like a charm!

NO! Antifreeze/coolant is not windshield washer fluid, and vice-VERSA [always wanted to do that! ]

Uh....When I say mix, I mean top coolant off with another brand green coolant, I am actually mixing nissan coolant with another brand coolant (while they both are green). And same thing for wash fluid...

So is OK to do that?

Yes, it is ok. Why would you want to top off your coolant? Do you have a leak? You should never check your coolant level cold, always hot because of coolant expansion when hot. When your engine is at operating temperature, then check it, top up to the high mark.

Dealer should topped it off at the end of Sep when I had maintenance service. However when I checked it a few days ago, I found it was at MIN level. Didn't see any sign of level. So I figure I should top it off once and see what happened?

kk. So go for a drive around town and when you get a hunch the vehicle is at operating temperature, check the level and if below max, top up to it. you should be good.....then check once a week to see if the levels are consistant.....check when at operating temp. that is.
