Just recently, my G has decided it really likes the songs on my iPod. I will start up the car in the mornings, turn on the local morning moron show, put on my cool guy glasses, buckle up, back out of the driveway....and just then it will change over to iPod! I have tried it on XM/Sirius as well, so I know it isn't just the FM. I have tried it when my iPhone is hooked up to it already as well, and it will do the same thing. It only does it when the car has been restarted...not just over night, but even after just a few minutes of it being off it will do the same thing. And, it isn't even playing a song...just says it is on the iPod input, and ... silence. If I had it on shuffle, or all the way down in the 'R' artists or something...it always goes back to the beginning. :wtf2:

Any ideas to remedy this little annoyance? The iPod is a 3rd gen, but the phone is an i4...so I am leaning towards something that I need to do with the unit or the car.

thanks!

I've seen similar when my ipod is connected to the car. When you start the car it takes longer for the ipod to power on, thus, when it does power on the system assumes it was just plugged in and will change to it. Hard for the system to determine whether the ipod was powering on or the owner connected it to the system.

Thanks...that makes sense, I just didn't put it together. I will re-sync and fully home charge the iPod and report back and findings. Kind of an annoying little quirk, maybe reach into the console and power it up before you start? It would work, but that could become annoying.

Happens to me in my EX35 also - it depends on the iPod. Some get charged and some dont. If yours is one that doesn't charge while plugged into your car, it will die... each time you start the car, it gets power and thinks it is being plugged in to play. Since the battery died, it goes back to the beginning.

I started using my son's 3rd Gen Nano and it works great. That problem solved!

To stop it just disconnect the cable. Mine did a weird thing yesterday...it said "no song to play". I'm using a 5th gen iPod classic.

Mine would charge my 2GB nano and I believe my 5GB one. The 8GB ipod touch can't be charged tho....pain in the butt.

Well, to update on my initial problem...it seems my iPod has lost its' ability to charge. I brought it in, and gave it a full charge on 120VAC (all night), and it doesn't power up unless it is hooked up to some sort of life support system. This iPod has so much music on it, that I don't even know where I got it all from. It certainly isn't on my computer (*SH_T*!).... It is (was) a 4th gen, and has been used A LOT! I'm not sure I want to get the battery replaced for whatever the market is charging...I've been rebuilding my collection on the iPhone anyways...

ipod batteries are cheap on ebay, and replacing them is super simple. Use a credit card; squeeze the top and bottom of the case together on one long side of the ipod until you get a little gap, then work the credit card into that gap and slide it down the side until most of the side is separated by the card. Then pry the top and bottom apart--voila, instant access to the battery.
