I know this sounds dumb, but...

The exhaust that I bought on ebay came with a pre-installed silencer. I can not figure out how to remove it. Won't budge.

Do any of you have experience with removing silencers? Seems like a simple task, but it has turned out not to be. What kind of tools could I use to remove this?

I may just resort to hooking a tow rope up to the silencer and tuggin away at it with another car!!

Because it had a small allen screw holding it in place. Also because I banged it around a bunch, and it does move backwards. But, it doesn't move forwards.

well.. now this may not work with all exhaust. But with my old exhasut with a silencer, I took out the bolts, and then if you just banged it off the revlimiter the exhaust pressure would launch it about 10 feet. Always amusing. To me.If it is really stuck in there you could take a torch to the tip and heat it up and then try pulling the silencer out. I bet you are gonna burn yourself at least once though.

hmm..i need some kind of grappling hook to rip it out or something.

I don't really want to take a torch to my muffler, because it will probably discolor it. who knows..

torch at low heat won't hurt it, its probably stainless (I'm guessing).
