Hahah that's me!

The exhaust on the J30 is a true dual exhaust, with dual cats and dual mufflers, up until you hit that big monstrosity of a muffler sticking out the back bumper(I just called it a silencer for the video). The (silencer) attaches to the exhaust system behind the rear axles with just 2 nuts, 14mm I think. One side of the tubing is bolted together while the other side slips on. Remove the two bolts, give the other side a good wiggle and the silencer should pull right out leaving your J30 sounding roughly like mine does in the video. Good luck!

So the mufflers are before that big monster in the back? Is the only purpose for that to silence?

Here is a picture of the underbelly of my J30, a little small, but you can get the idea. The crude, green arrow points out the section where the silencer bolts to the mufflers before it, the drivers side muffler is the one that slips on. I cut the pipes halfway between the silencer and the mufflers while welding up a new exhaust system, this is why there are the bents pipes from the silencer, but no silencer. If that makes sense.

I would guess a good 35/40 Lbs.
I cut mine out and ran pipes to the back with chrome tips long ago.
Its actually called a "Resonator".

Yoda what size pipes did you run to the back. Same as stock or bigger?

Stock
Be sure to leave the hangers intact.
They can use them to hang the pipes.

Are you doing this for a performance increase or just to make it sound different?

As it is now without new pipes running to the back with the resonator off its pretty loud at a lower rpm.

It will tone down when you pipe it to the rear.
