i need some help on buying a silencer. I have a custom catback exhaust that i got from one of my friends, i just dont know what the brand or model of the exhaust is, and i doubt is even has one. It might be generic, but it sounds pretty nice. Anyways, its a bit on the loud side and the cops have been hassling me about it. Ive been trying every auto part store i found in the area to buy a silencer for it, but ran out of luck. i know a resonator would do a better job, but im on an only $40-50 budget, so thats out of the question. Would anyone know where to get a universal silencer that would fit a 2.5" piping and 3.5" tip? im thinking of getting an apexi' one and hope that it fits. any reccomendations? ive already researched and havent found any solutions. any help would be great. thanks!

well its really hard to say where to get a silencer for an offbrand muffler, because every muffler has its own brand silencer, i.e. apex n1 silencer wont fit the blitz nur spec. your best bet is probably to go to a muffler shop to see if they have the specific size for your muffler, of see if they can fab one up for you. not sure how much it'll cost you tho, but its worth a shot

I bought mine from autoimaging way back in the day when they were the importer for GP Sports. It cost me about 60 bucks plus another two months to get. It'll fit that 120mm tip.

If it's an N1 style, they're all for the most part pretty good about making it fit 120mm tips. I've got mine still around still pretty much unused if you need it.

hey thanks for the replies guys. 180fan, the tip of my muffler is 3.5", which i think is about 90mm. So if yours fits a 120mm i dont think it would do me any good. And if im gonna have that hard of a time getting a silencer that would fit my exhaust that i would have to get a custom fab for it, do u think it would make better sense to get a resonator instead?

by the way, it's sort of like this:

except with a 90mm tip.

You might be able to find a silencer from something like a fireball for your application.

i'd be just concerned about the fitment, but if you think its the exact size, then go for it. fyi, it has to be really snug for it to work, like almost near perfect. plus, if you dont already, u might wanna drill a hole for the screw

yea my muffler already has a hole for the screw. im just a little bit unsure about the fitment. but generally speaking, if it's made for a universal 3.5" tip then it should fit.. right??

yeah for the most part it looks like a typical silencer. how big is that inner diameter?

i just measured my exhaust. the diameter (outer diameter) is about 88.8, almost close to 89 mm. the inner diameter is about 87.5. this silencer says that it's about 3 3/8", which is about 85.7 to 86 mm. so give or take about 1-2 mm. is that good enough of a fit? thanks for all the help by the way!

well, the only way you could find out is if you try it out for yourself. as long as the 1-2mm difference is smaller than the outlet of the exhaust you should be ok, then you can just probably fill the gap with something if its too much

yea i was thinking of stuffing it with RTV exhaust gasket to fill the gap if it's too small. that should work fine right? thanks for all your help!

hmm, might want to look for a 90mm silencer. That rtv will be gross looking, and will probably burn off unless you're using the copper stuff.
