I am currently not driving anything but i plan on soon purchasing a 240sx. I have the plan in my head of doing a Sil-eighty conversion. Since i am not currently driving a 240 i was wondering if any of you guys you are, have done this conversion and what you think about it. Like, is it worth it and what all will i be needing for this swap to a Sil-eighty. please post with what will be needed how much the average cost and if its worth it, etc.

Thanks

Are you refering to the SR20 swap or the Silvia front end conversion on a 240SX fastback?

Most of us in the SR forum have done the SR motor swap..

Define "worth it". You will never get your money out of anything you do to a car.. so the question is, is it worht it to YOU to sink 1k$ into body panels? or 3-4-5k$ into a motor swap? It certainly is to all of us.. its what we enjoy.

The SR is a kick in the pants..

well a sil 80 usually refers to the front conv, and the motor is either assumed or overlooked, personally, ive seen the conv in person, and i dont like it, the body lines done flow right, it makes the car look too short, but its up to u as cyber said

IMO, the sil80 conversion is not worth it. I would never spend 1k on my car to make it look JDM. I would rather spend that money on an intercooler for the sr20. If you decide on an sr20, (don't forget the ca18det) then spend most of your money on the engine, making it fast and run properly

Coupe + Silvia face = SWEEETHatch + Silvia face = meh... not so sweet.

Reason is that the hatch is much more aerodynamic than the coupe. And the Silvia face is so boxy. It's my opinion, but I would never put a Silvia face on my hatch.

don't do it. If you have an itch to spend 1k, then put it in a CD

My family has a bone stock 92 hatch and I own my S14 that is fairly modded. I have thought many times about pulling apart my car and installing my SR along with everything else into the hatch and put a S13 front end on it. But I always come to the conclusion of NO. I like the Sil-80s but hey thats just me. Do what you like. Not what is the "cool" thing
