Since I got my car a few months ago, I've noticed that at idle the engine randomly does this shaking/stuttering. (KA24E) When I just sit there, it feels like the whole car is shivering or something. It's a little on and off, but it's definitely there. When I accelerate the car still stutters some, but it's barely noticeable. My gas mileage has been really bad too - with street driving I get 13 mpg and highway I get 22 mpg. And with rising gas prices...!!!!

I already checked the ignition side - changed spark plugs, wires, distributor cap and rotor. Using a timing light, everything seems to be flashing. Timing at the pulley marks seems to be ok. I also replaced my coolant sensor (the old one looked ooooooooold). Idle is a good 700 +/- 50 rpm

Could a fuel injector be stuck open? What's a good way to check this? I know it can't be stuck closed, cuz I know the idle would be less bareable. I've read anywhere from "listen for tapping from each injector" to "pull em out and look for leaking fuel". I just don't want to go thru the work of pulling everything apart just to find out that everything "looks" fine.

Thanks for any advice. Nico kicks ash

Use a fuel gauge and do a leak down test on the fuel system. It has been mentioned in many threads in here and how to do it. Give a quick search a try.
