I've got a s13 Walbro 255 that I put in my S12 about 6-7 years ago.

I've got the pressure turned up to around 45psi or so, and when I turn the key to "on" there is no high pitch hummm......just a low pitch grumble. When the car is running it can't be heard at all. I hear others say their walbro's are super loud. If I turn the pressure down to stock, the noise is a touch higher pitch, but nothing like I remember it being 6 years ago when I installed it.

Is it on the outs? Is their a way to test it?

After that many years, it's time to send that thing packing. You've got your money's worth out of it, so retire it and get a new one.

Sounds like what my walbro 190 did after 6 months. Piece of crap that thing is.

I'd get a Bosch intank pump (like a 023) to replace it, they rock.

You could test it with a fuel pressure gauge pretty easily, but walbro's are pretty cheap too.

how do you test it with a pressure gauge?

I've got a fuel pressure gauge "in-line" under the hood, and it does show the set pressure at idle, and it holds pressure once I shut off the engine.

But yes, Walbro's are cheap...may just go ahead and order a new one

When the sound stops basically.

I was going to say, like GTR pumps if they stop whining or start to groan or sound like "static" they are on the way out

We have a new in-tank 300LPH pump that will be available after the first of the year. If you can hold off for a few weeks, it would be a great alternative to just sticking another Walbro in there. :D

3-year warranty and E85 compatible, too.

...and quite a bit more quiet, too. :)
