Hey guys, I still think that I will be getting VLED sets for both front and rear of my car, but I came across something on the internet that is selling 80 (yes 8-0) watt LED bulbs for turn signals. The VLED V3 Triton has three 3W LEDs in it. So this kind of shocked me.. Is an 80W turn signal possible? If so, would that much power 1)even need a resistor 2)damage the housing or surrounding areas (aka would it make a bunch of heat)?

What do you all think or know about this?

Sounds fishy. I'd avoid it.

I have the V3 Tritons for my front turn signals and they are plenty bright enough...not sure I would need 80w if those are even for reals

I have the previous model Vled Tritons front and rear. They are brilliant. I also had them on my 07. You can see them on my 07 in my pics

Ok thanks guys. I am going to do the switchback V3 Triton in the front eventually (once I have the time to put aside and sort through all of the wiring and everything). I wish I could do just what you did with the Philips Daylight 8 because those were the first LED DRLs that I fell in love with, but I do not know if I am up to the task of actually cutting my bumper inserts like you did.

Oh wait! you have a 2006! No cutting needed. On my 07 (see pics) I just drilled a small hole in the bumper trim piece behind each DRL to slide the wire through, then neatly fed them up to the battery. Then I used 3M tape (15-20lb test from Home Depot Paint dept) to attach them under the out cropping on the bumper. Even after the accident with the drunk driver that totaled my cat, they were still holding on perfectly.

First, sorry that your 07 ended that way. :frown: drunk driving is never good :tisk:

Anyway, is the 07 the car you have in the "custom DRL" how to write up you did? Or is it your 09? I thought it was your 09 with the new bumper that they fit perfectly. So where are these pics and/or write up? Your signature or something? Thanks again.

I guess a better way to put it is: the daylight 8 sits flush with the bumper for 06-07?

You're right. The DIY that I posted was for mt 09. BUT ... the 07 had them too. The difference is the bumper design. Your 06 has a polkastic insert in the bottom half of the bumper. I drilled a hole just big enough to slide the wires from the DRLs through it and then up to the battery. Then the DRLs mount in front of that hole and hides it. The pics are in my sig. Choose the album for the 07 and you will see how they mount. 3M tape along the top of the DRL. I used 3M tape on both cars so that I wouldn't have to drill holes for the mounting brackets that come with the DRLs.
