Tell your transmission nightmare here in this post. I want to here from anyone and every one who has had transmission failure on their Q. Tell me what and how it started, the sounds you heard/the sounds you didn't hear ie. ticking/ grinding/ crunching etc. Even engine noise transfer. What the car did to first alert the issue, what all codes did you get, if any and what did it feel like driving. Tell me if it was a sudden matter of day's thing or a gradual drawn out issue. What did you see before and after if possible, was your fluid frothy and black or dark color, smelling like you forgot a burger on the the George Forman grill for to long. I want to know any and all details and who made the prognosis. Of course the outcome of the prognosis, and if you caught the problem early enough, pls post how and what you did to prevent it from ceasing to exist on your Q. The reason for this is so that I can put as much sense as possible into the issue I currently have,(which might be my transmission) I have been trouble shooting the problem for weeks now and am ready to face the fact that it indeed just might be my transmission. However before I can believe that, I must hear from "experienced threw pain and agony" Q owners. Bottom line is if you have ever had transmission problems pls inform me in detail what happens.

well, never say that your transmission is going because, the next think you know its gone!! my trans.went right after i said it was going to go. i have a 92 Q45 and the first sign of my trans problem was a shake at 40 then the shake turn in to a loud tap or thump it sound like a gear was not sitting right . later down the line the transmission would slam into gear and slip light would come on when the peddle was punched to the floor.(racing a BMW 745i) this also happened when stopping . i thought that someone hit me at a light but it was the transmission belt. this all happen in one day. i woke up and say to a Friend i think my transmission is going .and at 7 that night i found my self in a different state calling AAA to remove my car from the Spanish ghetto that i had drove into by mistake. the q tumped ever since i bought it but still the trans broke really quick to my surprised. no lights or pre worning that this was going to happen. sometimes i would smell trans fluids after driveing but that is it.

good luck with a transmission problem i think you will need it

Why one does a BG machine flush immediately after purchase to stopwatch time the exchange period..............more than 3minutes 30 seconds and something is worn excessively.

But then again I have seen functioning [shifting] transmission's with a 5-6 minute exchange time..........when you drive them you feel something not right.

There are multi-dozens of parameters you can see with Consult in transmission test mode.

The signal to the ECM all check out and the car feels like it shifts smoothly into gear. But something is defanitly wrong.

I've been searching like Lewis and Clark and reading like a jurnalist editor any everything posible related to transmission issues. The problem is it is info overload and I find myself wondering if my issue relates. NOt that I dont love all that I have learned B/C I do, unfortanitly I have a problem and I need to know what others have allready (unfortanitly) been threw. I simply wanted to have all the horror stories in one post so that I could relate. It's the fact that I work and never have a day off that I dont have the time to properly file what I need to know and what is good to know. I am not against paying a professional to get to the bottom of the issue it's just that the nearest one around is not within a hundred miles and driving 45mph on the highway were I live will get you killed. I wont mind dying in the Q but I would rather it not be B/C I was rear ended for going to slow...That just don't seem right.Once again any post here will be greatly appreciated and if you or anyone is ever in need of some help with something in my industry just let me know and I WILL make it happen. I really enjoy this sight and being a part of it so thanks to every one who does what they do just cuz they can and enjoy's what they do.

What was the cost of your like new feeling experiance? Thanks for the post did you get any lights (slip, trans malfunction, ecu codes) at all. Also did you try doing the transmission diagnostic test?
