I'm in a bind I just cannot make up my mind? How do you guys like the rb20det sidemounts...is the fitment good? Does it heat soak way 2 quickly...I have a guy wanting to sell it 2 me with piping for 100 bucks. Should I just go the extra mile and go with a front mount... Im probably going to stick with stock boost for a while...

I have the side mount on my car. Runs fine no real problems, besides any larger wheel and it would rub on the intercooler.

Then again I went ahead and ordered my FMIC and catback exhaust yesterday. So I'm hoping to let the engine breathe a bit better, along with my AM Performance downpipe.

The sidemount heatsoaked with the stock boost level very quickly using the usdm front bumper which isnt meant to flow air to it. Just go with the FMIC, you will probably end up getting one later anyway.

sidemount without the duct = airflow cooling effiency of a ham sammitch.side mount with duct = decent for a stock setup.

You have to consider most cars using a sidemount have direct airflow for it. If its an S13, consider buying the 180sx bumper vent and cutting it in if you are that serious about running one.

Holy ****ing ****, it seems to me that sidemount is more effort than it's worth...How much have you guys spent on your front mount setups. Should I do a one sided fmic, or the regular style? What do you guys prefer? I guess sidemount can kiss my ***! On with the fmic!

if you plan on upgrading, just go with a FMIC now. you'll have to upgrade eventually. doing it once > doing it twice. lol.

sidemount with the oem duct on an s14 works fine up to ~14psi on the STOCK turbo. if you upgrade at all, you need to get a FMIC or get some alkyhol injection going on. stock sidemount without the duct will work fine on stock boost (10psi) as long as ambient temps are lower than ~80*F after that and power drops off dramaticly.

heres my question, when my rb25 gets here, im wanting to put at least an fmic on, i don thave the money for a greddy manifold just yet, is there any fmic out there that have the hot and cold pipes coming in and out of the same side, you know, so i dont have to route piping back across the front of the motor to tie in with the other side

god why did nissan ever have to make that intake manifold........

If you had a well ducted SARD or ARC sidemount intercooler it would be good. The Z32 guys use those on HIGH hp applications and they're the ****. Then again, with a solid build on a motor and support mods Z32's have been pushed into the 10's with stock turbos.

Although, for the price of an ARC or SARD unit, you could get pipes and a fleabay FMIC for the same price.

Piping is piping. another 500 bucks isnt worth 5 hp for me.

My car should be running in a month or so, ill let you know how i like it.
