Have ordered side trim molding for new Murano, but am uncertain with regard to proper installation height.
I went trrough the neighborhood WalMart parking lot with a yardstick & side trims ranged from 22-29" above the ground. I guess there is no "one size fits all" answer, but any thoughts on a reasonable compromise?
P.S. The world would be a better place if door edge guards were a legal requirement; or everyone followed the Golden Rule!

I have to agree, I find myself parking as far from other vehicles as I can. Good luck with the side trim, and let us know how you make out with the height.

UPS says the side trim is supposed to arrive today Czarny, but may not get a chance to install for several days (no way am I doing it without the Wife's "participation").
Took our twin Grandson's to the movie Sunday & parked out in the boonies. When we left, there were three other new cars lined up; all hoping for "mutual mercy" I guess. Grandson Christopher had an idea: "Why not put on two rows?". Eleven years old and already a bureaucratic expert!

Had to laugh, we were out last night, and had exactly the same happen, parked in the South 40, came out and there were 5 of us - another new Murano, a Lexus ES, a Mercedes, and a nice shiny new Venza - strength in numbers I guess. Between us we managed to take up about 12 parking spaces, with me in the middle! :) At least I had the safest spot. :dblthumb:

SUCCESS; door ding worries are history...until we end up parked next to a jacked-up 4X4. Moldings arrived this afternoon.
FYI Czarny (and anyone else afflicted with the same phobia): 1) Shipment was in a long box that enabled all four cut-to-size pieces to make the trip in stand-up fashion; no unrolling & waiting for all the kinks to unwind. 2) The color match (Merlot) was perfect. 3) The instructions were absolutely right-on; including height specs from the bottom side chrome strip. Despite my plodding & redundancy, the entire project took less than an hour.
Haven't been around long enough to know if links are permissible, but here's where I bought 'em: http://spoilerandwingking.com/cart/resu ... 9450426283

Great, I've bookmarked that site and need to check my door panle for correct paint code. According to Nissan, mine is "Brilliant Silver", while the trim listing shows "grey metallic" which I hope is the same thing. Any trouble keeping the lines straight?

Piece of cake: Instructions give front door measurement, from lower chrome strip & same for rear door. There was 3/4" inch difference, but when measured from the ground, the molding is parallel.
I used "painters masking tape" (blue in color/stays in place while you're using it, but come off easily) to create guide for molding & from there it was a snap (the instructions even included how far from the edge of the door the ends should be; 1/16" less on the back door and there would have been interference when opening the door).
Hey, diy? says it all; if I didn't screw it up, anybody can do it. BTW, I shopped around locally for purchase/installation (including the dealer) and the first five basically had no interest. #6 said Yes; estimate was $500 for the molding & $175 for installation...no S**t.

Great info. I hadn't thought of doing this, but they even look nice. May have to get a set...

If you do it viperdoc, would be interested to know how recommended molding height height compares to dings (if any) you have. Far as I can tell, we haven't been put to the test: YET.
Wish they weren't "necessary", but have had several people ask where I found, so they must be appealing to others...and the Merlot color, as well as metallic, match is perfect.
P.S. Off topic, but we're just into our third week of ownership and the 2010 is noticeably improved over the '04 Murano we traded-in; ESPECIALLY the CVT. Also the handling seems almost sporty, yet not too harsh, despite the 20" wheels.

FYI - Here is a site for some pre-cut Painted Bodyside Molding. Check the Paint Codes to find your Murano Color.

Hi BKP,
I had seen the Car Id moldings ( http://www.carid.com/product.php?produc ... t=0&page=1 ), but their price is quite a bit higher, vs the same product at Spoiler & Wing King, linked in my 4/21 posting. Car Id does have a bunch of cool stuff for the Murano; am working now on wood dash kits and finding even a greater differential, price & quality/style wise, than the side moldings. Seems as though most places shoot for "close enough" as far as matching the oem on the console & doors...I try to figure things out on my own, but am pretty close to starting a HELP (!!!) thread here on NICOclub.
