Side skirt acting like a shovel and collecting rocks, dirt and etc.

Has anyone else noticed that the side skirt under the doors is open on the front side just aft of the front tires? Due to this, rocks, dirt and whatever else happens to get kicked up into this area stays with the car. Also, this stuff is being held up against the lower body of the car (metal) and over a period of time, has to promote rust. Furthermore, as the weight of this material builds, it appears the plastic side skirt begins to droop a little. I hope this turns out to be a no issue.

To really see the problem, you have to either slide under the car beneath the doors or have it on a lift.

Any ideas as to how to block the opening and keep the debris out? I do not think that I have much of a problem so far, but I like to be proactive when it comes to issues like this.
