Side Moldings? Yay or nay?

A great resource for Nissan Sentra, Infiniti G20, 200sx, Pulsar, NX1600, NX2000, Tsuru, Primera and Sunny owners.

My 07 sentra did not come with the paint matched side moldings, and aparently someone opened their door into mine in the last week so I have a nice dent on the passenger door now.

I was thinking about getting the factory side moldings for the car, to protect it from future damage, but I can't say I've ever liked the look of the moldings on any car.

Any opinions? I found them on http://www.nissanpartswarehouse.com for $42 per side. I wonder if they are easy to attach. What do you all think? Do they look ok and offer much protection, or am I wasting my time and money?

The car does look sleeker without the mouldings but if door knocks are a major concern then I would put them on to protect the sides. I had the same problem as I have to park in a lot every day at work and ended up with a small ding on my back door so I put them on, if they are done right it won't look bad at all. They are just stuck on with 3m tape and it's easy to install, make sure you follow the directions for alignment as the car is sloped from back to front so the front end of the mouldings is about an inch lower than the back. Use some masking tape or such to premark your spots before sticking them on so you can have an idea where to position them and how they look.

Here's the install guide, they recommend a 1/4" drop, I used about 3/4".
