Greetings, new to this forum, looks to be one of the best Altima forums I have found. Looking for any advise about the side door mirrors, it is amazing how the mirrors with the turn signal in them dresses up a car, Has anyone ever install them on their A/C with after market or replace them with OEM...TIA

Welcome to the club dwf!!!

http://forums.altimas.org/zeromain is the link you should bookmark!

All the info here is in its proper section (for the most part)... Please try and post in the correct area!(this type of discussion is in the "Interior/exterior" Section.... take a look over there, all the answers are within!

The search button works too, and we are always here to help you out! (again post in the right section if you can, if you aren't sure, don't worry there's no beatings issued!)

To answer your question, toxik is a member here that has a 2.5 and installed 3.5 mirrors with the signals. I've seen it personally so It can be done....

I have them as well, and it is an easy swap if your car is pre-wired for them. If not it is beyond a pain and certainly not worth the hassle. Trust me, I wasn't prewired and looking back there is no way I would have done this given a second chance.

Dangeris-thank you for the link, I will be more diligent looking for information before I post...still getting the hang of where information is located within this forum.

I'm not saying its impossible, i've proven that it's doable, it's just A LOT of work. Mine still don't work 100% correctly, I need to get back in the garage and work on them.

I wouldn' t think it would be that difficult. Seems like you would just need to run wires from the engine bay (parking lights and turn signals) into the cabin through one of the holes in the firewall, through the hole in the door, up to the side mirror. From there, its just a matter of either testing positive and negative or using the FSM to get the proper wire colors and hooking them up.

i admit, not a plug and play job, but one shouldn't be discouraged from this mod... half of the fun of getting a car is modding it yourself!

boystarr22, you think you could do a write up for this, or is there already one available?

I attempted making a write-up but there was no way I could do it in a manner than most people could comprehend. I tapped the turn signals in the door sill off the rears rather than fight with the firewall. FYI both turn signals run under the sill on the driver side. The defrost circuit is what still doesn't work for me. I've gone through the FSM and found the wires but it blows the fuse everytime and I gave up for the time being. You'll also have to find the pins to be able to put the wires into the plug on the back side of the mirror too. I added a set of extra connectors in each door jam to break the runs incase I ever have to have a door replaced that way the car is still halfway prewired. It took about 8 hours to do but much of that was disassembling and searching for the right wires.
