Hey can anyone tell me what these are called? And can anyone tell me if they work good??

http://toadstool.se/photos/200...r.JPG

That is the best pic I could find without knowing the name of the little globe addon for the mirror.

EDIT: Oh and any help on placement would be greatly appreciated, I'd like to put it on the inside part of the mirror at the bottom not on the outside part of the mirror on the bottom like this pic.... :help

I think they're called blind spot mirrors. Or simply stick-on convex mirrors. They're used for towing and usually just placed on the passenger side. But I guess it would help for regular driving as well...

Convex blind spot mirror. 99 cents at PepBoys, 3M sticky tape keeps it in place.

Outside corner of the mirror is the most effective placement.

blindspot mirror?

you put them where you have a blind spot

it varies from person to person and car to car.

COnsidering how small the side mirrors are to begin with, the addition of an even smaller Fisheye is largely pointless. On the passenger side they are so far away that accurately assesing them takes vision better than mine. On the near side, you can find use it, but accurately assesing the area through one takes more time than simply turning your head (unless you are towing something you cannot see around).

Lastly, if you aren't towing something, I might suggest adjusting your mirrors correctly. The rear-view is for seeing to the rear, the side views are for seeing to the side, not the rear. Adjust them out a few degrees to where you can no longer see down the side of the car, but into the blindspot. You will find them much more useful that way, instead of just duplicating your view through the rear-view.

I agree with Hitman and Ubernoober (cool name). Convex or "globe" mirrors are more for tractor-trailer rigs, who's mirrors are considerably higher up giving them a blind spot below their doors. The convex mirrors help them see down beside their doorsmore than seeing more than one lane. If you think you need them for your passenger car, then you've obviously got your regular mirrors set wrong. They're really not necessary for cars.

There was an article on how to properly adjust your side mirrors by the Car Talk dudes in response to some letter they got. Basically, adjust so that an object (say, a car) behind you flows from one mirror to the other, rather than being in two at once. YAY! No more blind spots!

Yes, Yes, YES!!! This is the way I have been recommending it for years. Some weeks back, I showed the article to my wife and she finally agreed to try it (Why is it that wives will not listen to spouses, but will try it if it is in print "from an expert"?).
