Side marker lights. I need quick input!

I am getting my s13 painted. Its getting a Silvia front, shaving the antenna, going wingless, and shaving the windshield washer squirters(no room for reservoir because of intercooler). The last on the angenda to get shaved is the rear side marker lights. Keep in mind the Silvia front does not have front side marker lights. What do you guys think?

leave them, its a legal thing. niteshade them if you want a cleaner look (for a dark car).

legal issue? really? ive already shaved my front and backs. i put a peice of duct tape on the inner side, did a nice coat of fibreglass resin then whent over with bondo and it looks dopeskies.

iunno, yesterday i was talking to my one of the guys who's doing the body work on my car and he said that it's totally legal and if i recall correctly he has done it before. he also pointed out to me how some newer vehicles in the shop had no rear side markers(i don't think the tails wrapped around any more than the 240's either to be able to double as a side marker).

I'd leave them, its not that much of an eye sore.

besides you'll have fun passing a safety inspection if you don't have wiper squirters or side markers.

I have a couple of days to decide. I live in South Carolina. We could care less about safety inspections here. We do not even emissions test. I do not see it would be illegal.

well i just got done scouring law.justia.com and found nothing for new mexico that requires me to have side markers. it appears to only be for buses and trucks of at least eighty inches in overall width. south carolina didn't even turn up anything about side markers.

iunno, i think they just seem out of place for wtv reason, they also make it so there are too many lights in my opinion. plus in my situation i have clear bumper light, red/clear tails, and am about to order clear front side-markers so they wouldn't match by my tastes.

i dont see the point in shaving sidemarkers. splice em into your turnsignals so they flash. thats cool

shaving widsheild squirters is also dumb. im sure you can fit your intercooler just fine.

Im not sure if you need sidemarkers by law, but you definitely need windsheild squirters. that is the law

i shaved my third brake light and antenna. thats all you really dont need.

dont get rid of stuff just cause you can post pics after paint

You legally have to have a third brake light too (Federal Law), so you are not the best person to comment on legality

If your state vehicle code does not require it, you should be fine. I know CA specifically has the specs for a sidemarker (color and location). Research your state DMV website for updated vehicle codes to be sure.
